0.1 Converting Utility set up, run, and clean up the printing converting equipment.
0.2 Converting Utility report to the converting shift supervisor for the shift to which they are assigned. Converting Utility also follow the direction of the press operator of the crew to which they are assigned.
1.0 Primary press helper duties / responsibilities include:
1.1 - following all safety rules and practices;
1.2 - learning customer requirements and specifications by reading factory work orders, print cards, and design specifications;
1.3 - coordinating activities with other machine crew members to efficiently set up and run orders;
1.4 - maintaining quality and production standards as required by the company;
1.5 - performing set up functions as directed by the operator; such as removing and attaching cutting dies, zeroing and opening / closing the machine, raising, autosetting, and lowering the prefeeder, setting the stacker and counter-ejector portions of the machine, recovering ink and washing ink filters, installing inks, cleaning, setting, and adjusting the glue application system, and completing paperwork, while continuously balancing work with the operator;
1.6 - continually monitoring the quality and quantity of production;
1.7 - using available time to prepare for set ups and runs by obtaining protection sheets, obtaining and asiding tooling, ink, and other supplies, and tearing apart pallet cards;
1.8 - performing assigned clean up functions, such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, and picking up and asiding miscellaneous scrap;
1.9 - performing minor cutting die repairs;
1.10 - performing quality inspections and tests, and recording findings;
1.11 - learning press operator duties and responsibilities;
1.12 - following prescribed practices in all circumstances; and
1.13 - performing other duties as assigned by supervision.
2.0 The qualifications for Converting Utility are the ability to perform the duties / responsibilities of the job with or without accommodation; the ability to read, write, and speak English; the ability to accurately read a measuring tape and ruler; the ability to use basic shop math; the ability to learn; and the ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and work effectively as a member of a team.
