Job Description

The Camera and Sensors group at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) is developing products for the next generation of augmented and virtual reality. Amongst other focus areas, the group specializes in research and implementation of advanced sensing technologies with an eye towards driving the state of the art. We are looking for candidates with experience in machine learning and image processing to collaborate with our team in pursuit of novel technologies.

Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Research Intern, Deep Learning for On-Device Computer Vision (PhD) Responsibilities

* Collaborate with and support other research scientists and engineers across various disciplines

* Investigate, design and develop novel deep learning based computer vision algorithms for on-device recognition tasks

* Develop tools, scripts and tests to support your project

* Document and present your progress and project

Minimum Qualifications

* Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field

* 2+ years of experience with independent research in machine learning algorithms for image processing

* 2+ years of experience in Python and associated machine learning frameworks (Pytorch, Keras, TensorFlow)

* Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-cultural collaboration

* Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred Qualifications

* Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

* Experience with pattern recognition and matching

* Deep understanding of state-of-the-art few-shot learning, and meta learning techniques
