The Energy Concierge Services (ECS) engineering department within Energy Waste Reduction provides energy management services to Consumers Energy Commercial and Industrial customers. ECS provides a technical single-point-of-contact (SPOC) at the utility to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs), develop business cases, and provide project management support and rebate application assistance. The team of ECS engineers conduct on-site assessments of mechanical, electrical and building systems as it relates to the use of energy. The engineers identify ECMs, quantify energy savings, and calculate energy project financial analyses (ROI, simple payback, rebate incentives, etc). The ECS team provides on-site project management support and coordination of activities. Additionally, ECS engineers baseline and benchmark customer energy use and cost data. ECS aims to assist customers in executing energy efficiency projects and provide a great customer experience, all while supporting Consumers Energys Energy Waste Reduction goals.
Responsibilities:
* The candidate must perform various duties while always remaining safe.
* This position provides energy management services for customers by identifying and implementing optimization opportunities relative to the use of energy.
* Candidate must have the ability to work effectively within a customer's facility and organization in a professional manner.
* The successful candidate will be required to complete moderately complex assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, theory, and procedures. The ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering theory, techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications is required.
* Baseline and benchmark customers facility energy use and cost data.
* Perform ASHRAE Level I & II Audits to identify Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs).
* Review new construction documentation to identify rebate incentives and recommend energy efficient equipment/systems.
* Develop business cases with project cost, ROI, simple payback and rebate incentives.
* Complete and manage utility rebate applications on behalf of customers
* Perform Evaluation, Measurement and Verification (EM&V) of ECMs.
* Provide oversight for initiating and implementing ECMs
* Project management oversight

Requirements:
* A Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program as set forth in the Engineers Council for Professional Development
* 8 or more years of applied ABET exempt engineering working experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Planning, design, construction, and maintenance of Electric and Gas Distribution and Electric Generation systems as well as facilities and ancillary support process for all utility operations. Duties and who this individual report to will fluctuate between projects, Practice Areas, and offices. Individual possesses the skills lead, problem solve, and work well in a team environment. Individual should exemplify safe work practices and follow the companys compliance standards. Lead and/or assist with engineering projects to include design, plans, inspections, system planning, specifications, reports, maps, environmental impacts, permits, contracts, schedules, estimates, surveying, easements, data collection, construction observation, and field investigation. Provide engineering services with accuracy, integrating all applicable governmental and company laws, standards and procedures on time and under budget. Use computer assisted engineering, design, and drafting software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents. Understand and follow company established standard procedures for file structure and standard drawing procedures for projects Become familiar with plans and specifications, maps, and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately. Assists in client contact and communication. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills to provide technical expertise to coworkers, clients, customers, government entities and the public. Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. Provide all engineering services in a legal and ethical manner. Resolve all customer complaints in a timely manner. Serve as onsite project representative. Reviews operating and construction sites to monitor progress and other duties per the design documents. Regular attendance is expected.
HOURS AND TRAVEL
This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week (45-50 typical) with 85% of time spent in the office or specific field locations. Travel is required to job sites and project meetings and could be significant dependent upon location. Individuals need to be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet deadlines or assist with storm restoration activities. Individual should be willing to participate in the on-call rotation in case of potential storms. Individual may have to work outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays Individuals must have a valid drivers license.
