The Mortgage Finance Group (MFG) is searching for a first year Analyst to join the group in Spring/Summer 2021 in the Charlotte, NC office.

The Mortgage Finance Group (MFG) within Asset-Backed Finance provides financing, capital markets and advisory solutions to entities that own, originate, or service residential real estate loans and related assets. Our client base consists of specialty finance companies, mortgage originators and servicers, hedge funds, private equity firms, and asset managers. We provide highly structured secured lending arrangements collateralized by residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS), residential whole loans, single-family rental properties, and mortgage servicing receivables. Additionally, we provide advisory, securities underwriting, and distribution services for clients who access the bond markets through securitization.

The candidate will assist in the origination, execution and portfolio management of secured lending facilities and capital markets transactions (securitizations). The role involves working as the junior member of deal teams creating pitch books, marketing materials for securitizations, rating agency presentations, term sheets, underwriting memos, and due diligence reports, as well as negotiating legal documentation. The candidate will support senior bankers on the deal team, through active involvement in all aspects of the deal origination and execution process. Additionally, the candidate will closely partner with various constituencies across Wells Fargo, including Credit Risk, Sales and Trading, Syndicate, Corporate and Investment Banking, Compliance, and Legal.

There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business units risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications
* 1+ year of financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher obtained prior to program start date

Desired Qualifications
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Other Desired Qualifications
* Minimum of one-year experience or internship at an investment bank, asset manager or similar financial services firm.
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics or Math.
* Experience in private equity, structured finance or capital markets.
* Some product knowledge, technical expertise, transaction execution and negotiation skills.
* Experience with securitized and asset-backed products.

* Registration for FINRA Series 63 (or 66) must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
* Registration for FINRA Series 79 must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted.
* Registration for Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam must be completed within 90 days of hire date if it is not available for transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted
