Banking, Lending and Trust (BL&T)

Banking, Lending, & Trust (BL&T) is a client-centric, channel-agnostic center of expertise designed to:

* Shorten the distance between the client ask and the product or service delivery
* Provide access to our highly-credentialed specialists for all of our clients through geographically disbursed but centrally managed teams
* Create a more consistent advisor and client experience and help grow business across WIM
* Deliver best in class product and service offerings to all client segments

The Position

This role reporting to the leader of BL&T leads a team of governance professionals (directly and indirectly across BL&T) responsible for management and oversight of all risk and governance activities within BL&T working in partnership with the BL&T Control Executive, WIM Chief Risk Officer, legal partners, compliance officers, operational and credit risk and business leaders and their teams to ensure the following:

* Proactive timely identification, assignment and resolution of risk-related issues across all groups within BL&T, including ongoing review and reporting of status and regular review and escalation;
* Appropriate governance structures exist in the BAU environment and in support of any organizational transitions;
* Regular connectivity with partner groups within WIM, including other COEs and CRG to ensure alignment and identify needed connection points in the business;
* Documentation of policies and procedures, processes and controls and self-assurance activities exist and are appropriate for all aspects of BL&T business risk.
* During the WIM Vision transition or any major subsequent organizational changes, this person will be accountable for overseeing the team responsible for the BL&T risk / governance work stream and will act as the BL&T representative in all major WIM and enterprise forums designed to review risk, compliance and governance impacts and approve any organizational changes. This includes but is not limited to: IRR, MIRRC, SWAT, etc.
* Ultimately, this person will be responsible for ensuring appropriate governance and oversight of all product and sales-related risks aligned to all banking, lending and trust activities.

The Candidate

This candidate will:

* Partner with the WIM Control team to ensure that BL&T has a strong committee structure aligned to the business objectives and operating model; this includes any banking and trust functions that will or have transitioned over to BL&T within the 2020-2021 WIM Vision organizational shifts.
* Manage the portfolio of BL&T issues and ensure timely execution and resolution of issues. The expectation is that this person will partner with other leaders within BL&T and issue owners within the organization to remove roadblocks, provide resources and do whatever is needed to resolve issues by stated due dates without issue extensions.
* Define and execute processes / procedures / forums to enable front line corrective action owners to escalate risks to business and control leaders, and assist in identifying solutions to address escalated risks to avoid issue extensions.
* Manage all reporting on risk-related issues in conjunction with the Control Executive team, including ongoing routines with BL&T leaders to review risk and compliance issues and ensure the appropriate materials are prepared for ongoing governance committee meetings.
* Review all open issues to understand status, identify needed escalations, work with issue owners to create plans for remediating issues, revise plans for issues at risk of not meeting stated deadlines, and hold business leaders accountable for executing corrective action plans and resolution of cross-BL&T issues. In some cases, this persons team will be accountable for owning and remediating issues that cross business lines or are not clearly aligned to one particular part of BL&T. In that case, the leader will be responsible for timely delivery of closure of any and all corrective actions, including engagement with any and all partners needed to do so (e.g., technology, etc.).
* Drive accountability for execution of issues remediation for open issues across BL&T leveraging risk leaders within the organization who will have dotted line accountability to this leader.
* Responsible for all BL&T regulatory meetings, including creation of agenda and supporting materials.
* Ensures collaboration and connectivity on risk, compliance and legal topics across BL&T, operations, and CRG as relevant.
* Oversee the complaint resolution process for BL&T and partner with WIM Control on complaint resolution escalations.
* Facilitate the design and implementation of internal controls across all businesses within BL&T, including policies and procedures that enable WCS activities and products.
* Manage review and escalation of requests for TM approvals for outside activities.
* Assist business leaders in managing and coordinating audits and responses.
* Represent assigned areas on all operational risk matters requiring review and approval by senior management.
* Lead the BL&T governance team with dotted line oversight to IFS, wealth banking, and custom banking risk teams to ensure appropriate connectivity and oversight.

Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of management experience
* 12+ years of experience in one or more of the following functional areas: business process, quality assurance, strategic planning, or project management

Other Desired Qualifications
* 12+ years of banking experience
* 4+ years of experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) concepts
* Knowledge and understanding of Wealth and Investment management business and operational capabilities
* Ability to navigate in a matrixed organization, build relationships across varied stakeholder groups and effectively negotiate and influence across all levels in an organization
* Experience building partnerships and consulting effectively with peers and leaders
* Strong communicator with excellent meeting facilitation, oral and written communication skills. Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, multi-discipline teams to plan and execute complex solutions
* Strong organizational and plan management skills
* Results-oriented with ability to motivate and mobilize resources to accomplish objectives
* Experience exercising independent judgment and using creative problem-solving techniques
