POSITION SUMMARY:
Machine Operator is responsible for multi-function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems in the food manufacturing facility. Responsible for monitoring and adjusting machine settings as needed and notifying supervisor if machines should require maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* This position involves setting-up and operating automated production machines.
* Overseeing the production line, making minor adjustments to maintain greatest operational efficiency, assist other operators, performs quality testing, records all the data etc.
* Responsible for programming machines using keyboard and terminal for the proper size, weight, codes and dates for each bag produced and run
* Performs typical sheeting line operations
* Verify set up of machine; verify that the machine has been properly put back together from sanitation crew along with scales and their proper function
* Maintain a clean and organized working environment
* Ensure that the products are safe and meet the customer specifications
* Communicate quality issues of raw product or finished goods to the appropriate personnel
* Responsible for machine set-up, general machine operation and changeovers
* Responsible for the completion of all paperwork
* Follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the day
* Follow the work instructions
* Report and record hourly production updates
* Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
* Must have a minimum of 6 months operator experience listed on the application (can be a combination of employers as long as experience is at least 6 months)
* Applicants graduating from High School or College within the last 6 months will have this time counted in lieu of the 6 months operator experience requirement.
* Must possess technical and mechanical aptitude.
* Able to lift 50 pounds regularly
* Able to write legibly and perform simple mathematical functions
* Able to read and follow written instructions, able to follow verbal instructions and able to communicate effectively
* Self-directed approach to work with initiative
* History of working successfully with teams
* Basic math skills
* Ability to understand written policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards
* Mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot minor machine failures and make minor adjustments
* Ability to perform quality tests using analytical tools
* Ability to gather, record and report on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems
* Ability to work in accordance with quality, safety, and sanitation standards, policies and guidelines
* GED/HS diploma
* Stand for the duration of the shift (12hours )
* Bend continuously throughout the shift
* Able to work in a noisy, wet, and cold as well as warm environment
* Perform repetitive motions for the duration of the shift
* Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
* Able to reach with hands and arms to adjust equipment settings
Experience:
* Experience operating Touch Screens equipment preferred
* Experience with weight scaling system preferred
* Experience with working in safety-conscious environments with a focus on quality orientation
* Good attitude, with the willingness to learn
