JOB SUMMARY:
In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions.
POSITION DUTIES:
Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
Plans and provides comprehensive, expert, age-appropriate care of patients/patient populations within service line specialty in collaboration with the health care team under the direction of physician according to established performance standards and policies. Implement physician orders.
Rounds with physicians/surgeons on the team to plan and manage patient care. Performs procedures as directed under the direction of physician.
Leads and/or participates in Performance Improvement Teams utilizing collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches and principles of continuous quality improvement to support outcomes management for patient populations.
Identifies staff learning needs and provides in-service training to RNs and technicians in collaboration with management. Participate in orientation of new staff. Identify complications and provide guidance to solutions. Support and participate in revising policies and procedures. Participate in hospital safety/emergent programs and procedures.
Qualifications:
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
License Required: Valid, current Arizona Nursing License or compact state license and ability to become Arizona Licensed in 30 days, and a valid Arizona Nurse Practitioner License.
Certification Required: Certification consistent with specialty area within one year of date of hire. Must be eligible to obtain certification for prescribing and dispensing medications under the Arizona Board of Nursing provision R4-19-507. Basic Life Support (BLS).
Certification Preferred: ACLS, NRP, PALS as appropriate for specialty
EDUCATION
Required: Masters of Science in Nursing. Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program (Masters or Post-Masters Certificate).
Preferred: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: Five (5) years relevant clinical experience with at least two (2) of those years experience in specialty.
Preferred: Five (5) years experience in clinical specialty.
