SFARM

Responsibilities

Enterprise Technology is searching for a Software Developer to join the Business Lines Modernization product team, where the focus is on Consumer Reports, Vehicle, and Eligibility for Commercial Auto. The individual will drive quality software development by influencing the use of best practices, leveraging continuous delivery frameworks, engaging in detailed design, all while collaborating with other product teams. They'll also provide key leadership and advocating proper team culture and championing product ownership practices.

Seeking candidates with:

* Development experience in PolicyCenter
* Ability to quickly adapt to a changing and fast-paced agile development environment
* A proven willingness to learn and use new technologies
* DevOps mindset, utilizes agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical knowledge effectively

Preferred Skills:

* Working knowledge of PolicyCenter (GOSU / Configuration / UI)
* Familiar with aspects of PolicyCenter that includes but not limited to, webservices (REST/SOAP, client/server), JMS, database queries and optimization, plugins, workflows
* Working knowledge of multiple software languages (Java, Spring)
* Demonstrated experience working across technical domains/platforms
* Software delivery life cycle experience (including performance, acceptance testing, production support)
* Understanding of CI/CD tools and practices
* Ability to convey complex design and architectural concepts to nontechnical audiences
* Possess a natural curiosity of industry practices and be a model continuous learner
* Experience working in Policy Center

Incumbency:

This position will have a 12-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership or Technology Engineer openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.

* Job may require irregular work hours and travel outside normal business hours

Qualifications

* Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners; understand business current and aspirational needs

* Completes required coding to satisfy the defined acceptance criteria and deliver desired outcome

* Participates in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
* Designs, develops, tests and supports software in support of big data objectives
* Possesses an understanding of User Experience practices to improve usability and interaction between the customer and product
* Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
* Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation
* Resolves problems that result in a decreased time to market; improves quality, enhances flexibility, and embraces the solution provider mindset
* Provides input into overall testing plan; contributes to test approach and scenarios for requirements
