Cloud Application Services (CAS)

1. OpsServices Team

As an intern in Cloud Application Development (CAS), you will dive into developing our premiere Mindsphere software. OpsServices make significant contributions towards the availability and stability of the Mindsphere platform. They are responsible for all the tooling that support the scrum teams development pipeline, as well as, provide production level support. You will partner with multiple teams within an agile scrum development environment, and have the opportunity to learn directly from senior engineers. You will assist on project teams related to:

* Defining, planning, implementing, and operating processes that meet or exceed the service level agreement and CI/CD objectives.

* Be part of maintaining a 24x7, global, highly available SaaS environment according to internal and external service level agreements.

* Ensure the production environment is operating optimally and detect when they are not meeting their availability targets.

* Deliver improvements to source code management, deployment, operations, maintenance, cost control, security, monitoring, and audit tools and processes.

* Manage a service critical codebase with version control using Git including Gitlab, or GitHub.

Organization Requirements:

* Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, or a related Engineering field with prior coding experience

* Familiarity with CICD automation scripting (Python or terraform)

* Interest in Cloud Infrastructure automation and troubleshooting

* Strong understanding of object oriented programming concepts

* Previous cloud environment experience, including AWS or Azure, strongly preferred but not required

* Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel PowerPoint)

* Passionate, driven, and proactive

* Strong analytical and problem solving skills

* Effective organizational and time management skills

* Desire to continuously improve and learn about new areas

2. MindSphere IoT Platform Team

As part of our MindSphere IoT Platform development group, you will accelerate development of platform as service. MindSphere is the open, cloud-based IoT operating system from Siemens that lets you connect your machines and physical infrastructure to the digital world. It lets you harness big data from billions of intelligent devices, enabling you to uncover transformational insights across your entire business. In this group you will help define new approaches and create fresh functionality. Your responsibility will be to engage in one of our innovative teams by:

* Designing and developing micro service for MindSphere platform

* Creating tools, utilities and script development for automation

* Diving into requirements definition, in-depth analysis, and code implementation

* Working in the Agile development methodology

* Validating software quality through unit testing, writing automated tests, and bug fixing

Organization Requirements:

* Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Science, or a related Engineering field with prior coding experience

* Strong coding skills in JAVA

* Previous cloud environment experience, including AWS or Azure, strongly preferred but not required

* Strong understanding of object-oriented programming concepts

* Problem solving skills with algorithm and data structure

* Commanding grasp of JSON, YAML

* Have experience with, or able to learn Spring Framework, RESTful Web Service, jUnit/Mockito

* Understanding of Windows/Unix Operating Systems

* Write clean, robust and maintainable code

* Effective organizational and time management skills

* Desire to continuously improve and learn about new areas

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

3. Cloud Development Team

We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic software developers to join our Cloud Development team at Siemens. Whether you want to work on one of the world's largest Industrial IoT systems, leverage cutting edge AWS technologies, streamline content delivery to end-users globally, build an awesome browser, or just code to solve some of the hardest software problems there are many teams to consider building your career with, at Siemens.

In our Cloud Development group, you will get to work with cross-functional teams to develop products, business processes and online commercialization of cloud applications inclusive of (1) cloud native applications and (2) migration of current applications to cloud. You will:

* Design, develop, modify, and implement highly available and scalable cloud services for products.
* Perform research and development on new cloud technologies and methodologies.
* Work with technical leaders to refine our direction, and own design, implementation, and operation of gateway services, which support all Siemens cloud services.
* Work closely with a tight, agile team that ships features continuously.
* See the impact of your work on real customers.
* Author white papers, analysis documents, executive summaries and detailed business case documents.
* Implement new cloud technology environments and Proof of Concept (POCs) projects.

Organization Requirements:

* Studying for a Bachelors or Masters degree in: CS, CE, IS, IT, or related field
* Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as: Java, C++, C, Scala, Python
* It is highly desirable that the candidate possess one or more of the following:
* AWS / Azure Experience
* One or more years in designing, developing and deploying cloud based solution using AWS or Azure
* Understanding of core AWS/Azure services, uses, and basic architecture best practices
* Experience in software development, with experience in one or more areas:
* Solid Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and problem solving
* Define, design and deliver a distributed automation platform for compute, storage, database, queuing and other infrastructure
* Understanding web service development
* Proactive business skills and strong collaborative skills are required.
* Self-Directed, High Energy
* Ability to work well with a team in a fast paced agile development environment.
* Excellent oral/written communication & listening skills will be necessary to present information, analysis & recommendations to all levels of employees, including senior engineers and managers.
