Our robust engineering team, inhouse prototyping capability, and 197,000 square feet of manufacturing space make it the ideal facility to bring your development program into production.
Position Summary
PURPOSE:
To prepare patterns for assembly and to prepare soluble cores for pattern molding; wax welds multiple components using fixtures to maintain dimensional conformity; repairs wax patterns and soluble cores in accordance with quality standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Pattern Finishing.
Objective: to assemble pattern components and/or make dimensional alterations to patterns.
Typical Activities:
A. Reads techcards and engineering instructions.
B. Assembles wax components into visually and dimensionally acceptable patterns; may use specialized fixturing.
C. Modifies patterns or soluble cores using various hand tools and wax materials.
D. Inspects modifications with special gauges and other measuring devises.
E. Occasionally inserts ceramic cores in wax patterns and maintains dimensional integrity (TBO only).
2. Repair/Restoration
Objective: to fix broken or damaged patterns and soluble cores and restore to dimensionally acceptable condition.
Typical Activities:
A. Replaces broken features by wax welding fragments or by using other wax supplies to reconstruct missing areas.
B. Fills voids and reforms damaged contours by attaching and shaping stock wax.
3. Cleaning
Objective: to work patterns and soluable core surfaces to meet visual inspection criteria.
Typical Activities:
A. Removes flash, mismatch and other surface positives using a variety of hand tools and materials.
B. Fills or patches negatives using paint wax, melted stock wax, hot pencils and other tools and materials.
C. Completes dimensional integrity restoration and plugging of holes per techcards.
D. Inspects work for compliance with quality standards.
4. Serialization.
Objective: to identify patterns with specified serial pads and numbers.
Typical Activities:
A. Places sticky wax pads or stamps specified serial numbers directly into patterns, per techcards
5. Safety.
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
Typical Activities:
A. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
B. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
C. Identifies and reports safety problems.
PPE Requirements:
A. Safety Glasses and Steel Toe Shoes all times
B. Gloves, Long sleeves, Goggles and Mask optional for soluable cleaning.
5. Maintains accurate records of work performed.
6. Trains less skilled personnel as assigned.
7. Performs other tasks as directed.
Experience & Education
TRAINING:
Training is provided on the job.
Required Skills
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Demonstrated experience to fully perform the duties of a Wax Cleaner or a Wax Assembler C (not at TBO) OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
2. Working knowledge of cleaning techniques, methods, materials and tools and ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devises and fixtures.
3. Ability to follow complex written and verbal instructions.
4. Good manual dexterity.
5. Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred twenty five pounds.
6. Ability to work in conditions which may include exposure to noise, fumes, crowding, abrasions, cuts, and chemicals.
