Amazon.com is looking for a talented, driven and experienced Vendor Manager to help lead the PC Memory and Storage business. PC Memory is an important category in PCs and the role will involve partnering with several high profile manufacturers in the tech industry. The successful candidate will be a strong general manager who has a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the business. This candidate will be responsible for accelerating B2B growth through selection expansion and engagement on Amazon Business, building direct relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms & conditions, setting prices, developing collaborative marketing and promotions, and driving sales and margin improvements. The candidate should have experience analyzing business opportunities, building strong relationships, driving significant top and bottom line results, and be comfortable managing multiple responsibilities within a fast-paced environment. They will work with a variety of vendors and must have the leadership presence and communication skills to represent Amazon at all levels of these organizations. The candidate must also possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable drawing metric-based conclusions by managing an extensive amount of data. The right candidate stays on top of industry and competitive trends, and is able to execute at both a tactical and strategic level to drive selection, sales, and margin growth. In addition, the Vendor Manager must be an effective leader and communicator in working with Amazon internal groups such as in-stock management, site merchandising, marketing, PR, finance, operations, and retail systems.
The ideal candidate has strong business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and overall relationship management. Proven analytical thinking, project management skills, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills are musts. Areas of responsibility include
P&L Management, including planning, forecasting and driving growth for key vendors, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the business.
Setting goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision.
Driving strategic negotiations with external vendors.
Generating and implementing big ideas to drive business improvement, innovation, and scale within the category and across the retail business as a whole.
Leading cross functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising and in-stock.
Identifying industry trends that are relevant to customer selection and experience.
Collaborating on Marketing and Merchandising initiatives.
Innovating and implementing new customer and vendor programs.
Representing Amazon when meeting with senior executive teams from top vendors and building long term strategic relationships.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree
5+ years of relevant senior level experience in retail, operations, and/or business management/consulting with a proven history of delivering results
Experience with business analysis and expertise in Excel
Experience negotiating and closing complex business deals
Ability to own, manage and speak to a P&L
Polished communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
MBA Preferred
Track record of results, setting strategy, and running a large volume and high profile business
Experience in vendor negotiations, pricing and promotion, inventory management, and product development
Excellent business judgment with strong written and oral communication skills
Superior analytical abilities and quantitative skills. Comfortable with complex financial data and SQL
Highly polished communication skills - speaking, writing, presenting and negotiating
