Job Description

Summary

Conducts routine to complex experimental procedures within overall scope of a research project and/or diagnostic test development project. Supports the research, development, validation and improvement of assays used within a field of clinical testing.

Responsibilities:

* Working independently with minimal supervision, develops new assay and modifies current assays including research and bench level testing.
* Writes validation plans, conducts testing for validation and write validation reports for assay and diagnostic kits
* Maintains all appropriate records regarding data collection and interpretation of results. Functions as a team leader when needed.
* Adheres to the standard operating procedures and safety requirements of Esoterix, CLIA, CAP and other regulatory bodies.
* Review reports prior to submission to quality assurance. Respond to QA inquiries and audit findings. Document all quality assurance activities as necessary including preventive maintenance logs, instrument function checks, troubleshooting and quality control to ensure regulatory compliance.
* Participates in scientific meetings as requested and may present data.
* Follows any other job-related instructions and performs any other job related duties requested by department management.

Requirements

License/Certification/Education: Normally M.S. Degree in Biology/Chemistry w/3-5 years of experience or Ph.D.

Required Education/Degree:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in medical technology, a life science field of study.

3+ years of work experience or Ph.D.

Required Certification/License:

None

Required Work Experience:

3+ years relevant experience in a clinical laboratory with diagnostic assay development in R&D setting. , programing experience in automation, familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems such as MOLIS.

Physical Demands:

Requires use of fingers and hands-seizing, holding, grasping, typing, walking or standing-remaining on one's feet in an upright position, sitting-remaining in the normal seated position.

Working Conditions:

There is occasional exposure to potential blood-borne pathogens.
