Director, Financial Planning and Analysis

Job Description

BROAD FUNCTIONS:

The FP&A team provides critical insight to senior management in order to optimize decisions. This role will have exposure to senior management and must become a trusted thought partner to his/her team. The role will also have exposure to the incentive planning process and involvement in strategic projects. This position will report to the Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Assist in managing core financial planning and incentives processes and developing forecasts in close coordination with other members of the FP&A team (quarterly and annual forecasts, multi-scenario financial modeling)
* Understand & drive insights from the operating units and full company P&L, including identifying significant revenue and expense trends as well as anomalies and early signals, delivering an informed point of view and distilling insights into actionable messages
* Analyze financial data and results, summarize and communicate key findings to senior members of the FP&A team and management
* Assist in analysis and preparation of strategic materials (including presentations and memos) for key management meetings that drive business decisions
* Assist in the preparation of presentations to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
* Support development and execution of strategic projects and initiatives
* Maintain sophisticated financial models that allow for scenario planning and real time updates
* Design materials and templates to help collect and drive insights
* Assimilate existing processes, identify process improvement opportunities, and provide support as new processes are coordinated and put in place
* Collaborate on analysis with Controllers, Investor Relations, Corporate Development, Treasury and Tax team
* Oversee, develop and train direct reports and junior staff
* Other ad hoc analytical projects as needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

* Bachelor's Degree in Finance and/or Accounting, MBA or CPA preferred
* Minimum 10 years of experience with increasing responsibilities in highly analytical positions
* Strong competence in quantitative analysis and financial presentations using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Ability to clearly articulate and summarize analytical data into a financial memos
* Superb attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment, complemented by a flexible approach to shift priorities on multiple assignments
* Energetic, collaborative, and proactive attitude
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization and to build trusted relationships with key business partners in Finance / Accounting at the agency and Corporate level
* Team player that is also self-motivated with the ability to work independently to resolve problems with limited information
* Experience with the following systems is a plus - Hyperion, Oracle, or other BI tools, SAP
* Knowledge and experience with US GAAP
