The Department Secretary will Provides clerical support. Duties include but are not limited to telephones, reception duties, daily preparation of paper work, form completion, photocopying, typing, filing and data entry into the computer. Fulfills all duties required to assist in the smooth functioning of the department. Establishes primary contact and rapport with patients, family members and visitors. Greets and responds to ensure comfort and essential needs are met. Identifies and clarifies available services and provides direction to departments and areas within the facility. Assists in coordinating the ordering and inventory of all office supplies and maintenance of office equipment. Answers and documents incoming calls, handles and processes inquiries, and receives and immediately greets all visitors to the department. Exercises good judgment and discretion in all communications and escalates issues as appropriate. Ensures departmental files, policy and procedure manuals, protocols, and reports for various hospital, state and Federal organizations are maintained and up to date. Ensures integrity and regulatory compliance of departmental documents.

Qualifications

* High School graduate or equivalent;
* Computer literate with experience in Excel, Word and internet applications.
* General office experience combined with good communication, organizational and prioritization skills required.
* At least one year of Secretary experience in a hospital setting required
