Job Description

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a professional and highly motivated Network Security Engineerposition which will support the functionality and efficiency of the Network related requirements for Commander Navy Installations Command (CNIC). CNIC enables and sustains naval forces from the Shore by designing, developing and delivering integrated shore capabilities to the Fleet, Fighter and Family.

This position is located in Norfolk, VA.

As the Network Engineer you should be able to have experience configuring and managing enterprise firewalls and gateway devices, working with the following tools: Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, LAN/WAN concepts, Application firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, Linux/Unix and Windows.

Key responsibilities:
* Be proficient in the configuration and troubleshooting of IPS and IDS devices.

* Be proficient in the configuration and troubleshooting of VPNs and IPSEC, and Cisco ASA devices.

* Experience with command line interfaces (CLI).

* Experience with Cisco ASDM or other firewall management interfaces.

* Planning, engineering, and monitoring the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems.

* Identifying, monitoring, and defining the requirements of the overall security of the system.

* Creating different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues.

* Configuring and implementing intrusion detection systems and firewalls.

* Testing and checking the system for weaknesses in software and hardware.

* Maintaining firewalls, virtual private networks, web protocols, and email security.

* Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS, VoIP Systems)

* Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including Software/Firmware, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

* Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

* Work to enhance configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

* Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team

* Monitor and maintain network capacity and performance.

* Maintain complete technical documentation including developing, maintaining network diagrams with Visio, creating SOP's or updating existing SOP's.

* Responsible for design and engineering of IP and IP security of national data centers.

* Work with cross functional teams to communicate the engineering design plan in support of the development and deployment of network plans, upgrades and enhancements.

* Provide capacity management of currently deployed IP Security devices and links.

* Work with new architectures and product introduction to make them standard implemented solution in the network.

* Assist other Network Engineering teams in the analysis and diagnosis of problems.

* Current on IP and security products, standards and practices.

Qualifications:
* Must have BA/BS; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

* 5+ years of experience with network administration using Windows, UNIX/Linux, STIGs and related security applications

* Must have experience configuring and managing enterprise firewalls and gateway devices, working with the following tools: Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, LAN/WAN concepts, Application firewalls, SIEM, IDS/IPS, Linux/Unix and Windows.

* Active Secret (SSBI) clearance
