DICKS Sporting Goods is seeking a full-time 2nd shift Supervisor of Distribution II to join our distribution center team at the RDC in our Conklin facility.
Supervisor of Distribution II are directly accountable for providing service to the retail stores by coordinating all aspects of operational responsibilities through the distribution center. Position impacts company profitability through maximizing productivity, efficiencies, and quality through the distribution center operations. Position is responsible for making work flow decisions in the absence of a manager.
Supervisor of Distribution II Shift:
2nd Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 5:00pm - 3:30am

Essential Functions include:
* Forecasting & responding to production volume and manpower needs in order to maximize productivity and ensure quality.
* Training, developing & supervising non-exempt associates.
* Promoting and maintaining high associate morale & safety.
* Coaching and counseling associate performance and attendance issues.
* Maintain established through-put standards.
* Meet budget goals and productivity standards.
* Developing and implementing methods and procedures to improve efficiency and safety of operations.
* Maintaining the security of all merchandise and capital equipment in assigned departments.
* Assignment of special projects that relate to the business and/or operations in order to expand knowledge of facility or company.

Qualifications
* Bachelors Degree in Business or equivalent experience
* 3 - 5 Years Experience
* Distribution Center management
* Distribution systems preferred
* Retail experience preferred
* Excellent written & Verbal Communication Skills
* Strong interpersonal & client consultation skills
* Supervisory & leadership capabilities
* Strong detail orientation
* Superior organizational abilities
* Capable of meeting and/or exceeding work flow expectations.
* Strong communication with direct reports, co-workers and management.
* Ability to assume responsibility for shift or department when manager is not available.
* Demonstrate above average leadership skills and problem solving.
* Strong planning and decision-making skills
* Demonstrate above average warehouse work
* Must pass a background check and drug screen

The Story begins ...
DICK’S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when an 18 year-old Dick Stack was working at an Army surplus store in Binghamton, New York. An avid fisherman, Dick was approached by the store owner to come up with a list of products needed to get into the fishing tackle business. After Dick presented his suggestions, the owner told him he was a dumb kid and had no idea what he was doing. Dick was upset and promptly quit. He went to his grandmother’s house where he spent a lot of time as a kid and told her what had happened.
Dick’s grandmother asked how much it would cost to build the store himself. Dick said it would cost $300. His grandmother then went to the cookie jar where she kept her life savings and gave him $300 and told him “do it yourself.” Dick used that money and his relentless work-ethic to open a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton. By the late 1970's, he expanded his product line to include much of what you’ll find at DICK’S Sporting Goods today.
