Position Summary:

Achieve established sales/profit goals. Monitor/control all quality assurance standards. Direct/supervise Meat department duties/activities; support day-to-day functions. Essential Job Functions:

* Promote trust/respect among associates
* Follow uniform/grooming policies; display a positive attitude
* Communicate company/department/job specific information to associates
* Collaborate with associates
* Establish performance goals; promote teamwork/empower associates to meet/exceed targets
* Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume
* Train/develop associates on job performance; participate in performance appraisal process
* Adhere to local, state & federal laws, food safety regulations & company guidelines
* Make customers feel welcome/appreciated by answering product questions
* Gain/maintain product knowledge; respond to questions/make product suggestions
* Cut meat to customers specifications using proper equipment
* Offer samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about
* Provide customers with fresh/frozen products in correct portion sizes (or as close as possible) to prevent shrink
* Prepare foods according to food temperature logs, follow cooking instructions & maintain familiarity/compliance with country of origin labeling/regulations
* Develop/implement business plan to achieve desired results
* Understand store layout to locate products
* Create/execute sales promotions with management
* Educate associates about current, upcoming & special in-store promotions, especially for Meat; inform customers of meat specials
* Prepare/submit seasonal critiques for sales/merchandising supervisors
* Implement period promotional plans; stay current with present, future, seasonal & special ads
* Monitor/control department expenses
* Assist management in preparing store/department budget, profit/loss reviews, & take appropriate action on all financial reports
* Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note inventory discrepancies
* Schedule daily, weekly & monthly price changes by updating shelf tags/promotional signs
* Plan, organize & supervise/train associates on inventory/stocking process & Computer Assisted Ordering
* Ensure proper temperatures in cases/coolers; ensure temperature logs are maintained
* Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions & notifying store management
* Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment & notifying department/store manager of items needing repair
* Notify management of customer/associate accidents
* Report safety risks/issues & illegal activity, including robbery, theft or fraud
* Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

* Effective communication skills
* Knowledge of basic math
* Ability to handle stressful situations
* Current food handlers permit once employed
* Possess adequate knife handling skills/knife speed

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

* High school education/equivalent preferred
* Management experience preferred
* Knowledge of cutting, traying, wrapping, & labeling
* Meat/retail experience
* Second language (speaking, reading/writing)
