Job Summary

The Quality Team Lead provides supervision, technical assistance and scheduling to quality assurance technicians. As a quality assurance professional, he or she is involved in all aspects of quality and safety including but not limited to audits, Food Safety Program development and implementation, GMP training, product formulation, sanitation evaluation, insect and rodent control, purchasing supplies, working with and coaching operations personnel on quality and safety issues, inspecting returned and incoming products, customer complaints, implementing policies and procedures and evaluating new equipment installation or repair.

Position Responsibilities

* Coordinate quality assurance activities.
* Provide technical assistance and training to personnel.
* Monitor and verify the Food Safety Plan plans CCPs.
* Assure documents required by regulatory are properly reviewed and filed.
* Conduct GMP and sanitation audits of operations and warehouse areas.
* Work with operations personnel on quality and safety issues.
* Maintain and assist in coordination of Kosher compliance.
* Verify operations control systems are functional and being followed.
* Manage SPC Program
* Place product on hold, release or disposition as needed.
* Identify, Isolate, Evaluate and support Disposition of defective products.
* Evaluate seams and can tear-down results.
* Coordinate resolution of customer complaints.
* Assist in trouble-shooting quality related issues.
* Serve as back-up for Plant Quality Manager in their absence

Position Qualifications

* B.S. degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related field.
* Prefer 3-5 years experience in Food Industry with 1-2 years supervisory experience.
* Familiarity with laboratory activities including APC, Coliforms/E.coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Yeast and Mold, analytical testing to include moisture, color, brix and NTSS.
* Thorough knowledge of Good Sanitation Practices (GSPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
* Familiar with the SQF compliance or equivalent quality/food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
* Computer knowledge to include Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
* Understanding of Statistical Process Control and elementary statistical analysis.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be exposed to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature.
