Assist the peri-operative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to, patient care assistance, care of environment, transportation of patients, supplies/equipment, specimens, and blood products to, from, and within the surgical suite. Active member of the surgical team.

Must be a high school graduate or have a GED certificate.

Must possess skills and abilities to administer basic hands-on care to the patient in a surgery setting acquired through previous experience or in-house training. Must be knowledgeable regarding basic medical terminology and able to identify them any pieces of OR equipment. Must successfully complete the orientation program in the peri-operative services department. Ability to follow orders and perform within functional limitations of job. Communication skills, listening abilities, ability to deal with stress, able to react to emergency and crisis situations, committed to quality of care. Commitment to quality care.

Certification not required, but encouraged.

Current BLS certification, must be completed prior to end of orientation period
