As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer Automation & Robotics, you will lead or support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation and maintenance of facility automation. Specific areas of focus include automated storage systems, goods to person stations, autonomous vehicles, and robotics.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
The job duties of an Automation Lead are to design, implement, and maintain automated solutions to drive process improvements and realize benefits utilizing automation. To be successful, an Automation Lead must utilize technical skills and soft skills described below.
* Work independently and with diverse & multi-functional teams (operations, legal, purchasing, engineering, IT, etc.)
* Identify technology and innovative methods to improve facility and supply chain efficiency and costs and drive continuous improvement throughout the entire facility.
* Collaborate with engineers globally to benchmark best practices, implement improvements, and make expert recommendations for automated solutions.
* Closely monitor automation system operations, metrics, and maintenance
* Lead automation changes and modifications as required (example automated vehicle route changes) and locally lead supplier & vendor interaction
* Enable the installation and replication of robotic picking systems
* Serve as the local expert on Human Machine Interface (HMI) functionality & statistics, Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), and general automation controls and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
* Lead and administer training of local resources on safe and efficient use of automation and warehouse process execution
* Participate and assist with automation deployments at other sites as required
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelor level degree, preferably in Engineering or Supply Chain; In lieu of a degree, 3 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, operations, maintenance, or a warehousing environment, is required.
* Must possess strong collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work across functions to perform work deploying supply chain improvements.
* Requires problem-solving skills to solve common problems.
* Must be a strong team player to be effective in deploying supply chain improvements as part of a team.
* Ability to analyze business conditions and situations during deployment needed to minimize disruption to daily requirements.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
* 2+ years of experience with at least three of the following areas: autonomous vehicles, automated storage and retrieval systems, robotics, advanced battery technology, warehouse automation, Lidar systems, mechanical systems, or electrical systems.
* Demonstrated success in implementing warehouse operations improvement via new technology and processes.
* 6 Sigma/Cat Production System
* Strong problem solving, priority setting, and communication skills
* Understanding of Warehouse Operations and Warehouse Management Systems
* Previous experience managing capital budgets and implementing capital improvement projects
* Be proficient in English as well as the local language where the engineer is based.
* Experience in EWM or SAP
