JOB DESCRIPTION

The Basel Interpretive Office ensures accurate, consistent, and transparent U.S. Basel III regulatory capital treatment for all interpretations. The Basel Interpretive Office team members work closely with many partners across the organization to ensure the accurate end-to-end representation of exposures in Citis regulatory capital ratios. The Capital Interpretation role covers U.S. Basel III interpretations required for new product approval transaction flows and general regulatory capital inquiries. In addition, the Basel Interpretive Office reviews forthcoming changes to the U.S. Basel III rules (e.g., SA-CCR; Basel IV).

Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for:

* The interpretation of U.S. regulatory capital rules (e.g. Basel III, SLE) for all initiatives subject to new product approval processes.
* Drafting comprehensive regulatory capital technical interpretive memos.
* Providing U.S. Basel III regulatory capital treatment to the business.
* Collaborating with Risk Management, Accounting Policy, Legal, Regulatory Reporting, and other control functions to ensure proper application of the U.S. Basel III to deal structures.
* Advising the business on regulatory capital treatment during the structuring phase of transactions.
* Creating ad hoc Senior Management-ready materials including interpretive guidance presentations to Lines of Businesses, Committees, and Regulators as necessary.
* Developing a strong working relationship with Finance, Front Office, Treasury, Technology, Audit, Independent Risk and other counterparts across the organization.

Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
* 5+ years of Basel related experience.
* Knowledge of the U.S. Basel III rules for one or more exposure types (e.g., wholesale, securities financing transactions, securitizations, OTC derivatives).
* Understanding of banking products and interest in developing deeper expertise in complex product structures transacted by large banking organizations.
* Ability to understand the connectivity between the U.S. Basel III rules, economic risk considerations, and U.S. GAAP/U.S. Regulatory Reporting treatment for transactions.
* Strong written and oral communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities; work collaboratively within the team and across the organization, and exhibit interpersonal/influencing skill.
* Strong attention to detail, willingness to roll up sleeves and produce high quality regulatory capital memos.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills

Education:

* Bachelors degree, potentially Masters degree
