Job purpose & objectives:
Category Specialist Responsibilities include implementing the global sourcing strategies and strategic initiatives, identifying quick hits, and building relationships with stakeholders. The position focuses 100% on managing AbbVies Logistics Category spend.
The Category Specialist works within the Purchasing & Supplier Management (PSM), which provides sourcing direction to multiple functional areas within the company, and interact in a virtual environment including affiliate purchasing organisations on the strategic sourcing initiatives. This position is responsible for implementing, optimizing, and ensuring the delivery of approved sourcing strategies at the affiliates and manufacturing sites in concert with the Corporations overall strategies and Supply Chains goals. This position will work on the definition and resolution of known or anticipated problems in value, quality, feasibility, and specifications in the procurement of logistics services, while contributing cost savings and other value-added activity to support customer needs and expectations.
Accountabilities :
* Responsibility for obtaining best value and cost effectiveness of Preferred Supplier Networks (using negotiations and/or eSourcing tool)
* Working with Manufacturing Sites, Affiliates and Category Specialists to support regional projects.
* Analyse the supplier data, market information, and Category spend profile in order to build strategy to deliver results within category.
* Responsible for managing supplier base network.
* Develop communication plan for respective projects and managing internal AbbVie stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with AbbVies policies, procedures, and regulations.
* Support TCO development by deep diving in the stakeholder requirements (Spend Better).
* Report and Maintain accurate savings report using Provalido.
* Define implementation plan by setting up projects plans that meet the agreed strategic sourcing goals. Set priorities, adapt where necessary.
* Ensure adequate communication and resource allocation is in place prior to commencing implementation of projects.
* Drive the change management process, evaluating impacts from changes and building the required confidence with the affiliate stakeholders.
* Establish effective contract performance metrics (KPIs), SLAs and re-establish financial baseline, if required. Measure savings results following project implementation. Report monthly results to Finance.
* Ensure projects are implemented according to AbbVie wide standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Balance flexibility with progress. Adapt change but focus on results. Review corrective action plans with Category Managers if projects are off-track.
* Set-up quarterly/annual business reviews with internal stakeholders and suppliers, aiming at tracking continuous improvement initiatives promoting quality standards and profitability, fostering the exchange of ideas and information
* Inform key stakeholders from PSM / Global Supply Chain / Manufacturing / R&D; on the implementation progress. Highlight areas of concerns, barriers, and potential delays with enough notification time to take corrective actions. Communicate success, risk, and needs.
* Identify quick hits with the manufacturing sites and promote the deployment of best practices across the sites.
* Responsible for supplier management and Supplier Performance Program
* Develop, maintain, and improve relationships and strategies with local and global purchasing partners.
Decision making authority:
* Award business to suppliers, up to US$1Million+ annually with minimal supervision
* Represent AbbVie at all levels of supplier management
* Review implementation plan of sourcing initiatives
* Take authority on project management leadership including resource management.

Qualifications
Background and experiences :
* 5 years combined minimum of experience required in any of the following areas: Project Management, Purchasing, Negotiating, Change Management, Financial Analysis, Production Planning, Systems Development or Administration, Contract administration, Quality/Regulatory, Engineering and Sales.
* Graduate or equivalent qualification, with membership of Purchasing / Supply Chain / Project Professional preferred.
* Language : perfect command of English, any other European languages is an asset
* Technical qualification or experience preferred but not essential.
