Project Engineer needed to serve as a scrum master for two closely related capital projects aimed at supporting data as a strategic asset across all lines of business within LM Space. The ideal candidate will have an interest in, and experience with, applying agile engineering principles and practices to forward-leaning development projects. With your help, these programs will improve data processing and analysis capabilities on programs that are currently supporting operational space missions. Your contributions will enable improved insights and decision-making in challenging mission domains ranging from Earth-orbiting satellites to deep space exploration.
In this role, youll be applying varying combinations of Kanban and Scrum to help guide two teams through the entire engineering lifecycle. One of these projects is focused on providing a fully integrated data and AI platform to enable our programs to benefit from advanced analytics. The second project is focused on providing a modernized, cost-effective, big data processing platform that reduces the cost of leveraging emerging capabilities in that field.
This position requires a self-motivated individual with a hands-on entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional drive, and the ability to work in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Work schedule is flexible (e.g. 5x8, 9x80, 4x10), and will be largely at the discretion of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities
Leverage JIRA, and related tools, to provide tracking and visualization of agile project management performance indicators
Lead Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives, & Release Planning ceremonies
Train team members in agile processes and principles
Develop and maintain all levels of program schedules, ensuring vertical and horizontal integration
Develop and maintain program IMPs and IMSs & integrate these with Program Master Summary Schedules
Assist with managing program schedules using critical path analysis
Monitor Earned Value and prepare EVMS reports
Develop and prepare process management measurements and metrics
This role is flexible with telecommuting. It can be done full or part-time onsite in Waterton, or full-time virtually.
Basic Qualifications:
-Scrum Master certification from an industry-recognized certifying organization
-At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Scrum Master role
-Experience running standard Scrum meetings (sprint planning, retrospectives, etc)
-Experience training teams on agile processes and techniques.
-Experience tracking program risks and opportunities (cost, schedule, and technical) using formal tools and processes
-Excellent Teaming Skills (within team and relating with other teams)
Desired Skills:
-Experience applying Earned Value Management practices to different agile processes (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, etc)
-Familiarity with Data & Analytics concepts (Big Data, Data Discovery, Virtualization, Visualization, etc)
-Experience using JIRA, Tableau, and MS Project.
-Experience transitioning teams from waterfall to agile processes and techniques.
-Experience working within the Defense industry
