Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is seeking a full-time Laboratory Supervisor to join our healthcare team!

The Laboratory Supervisor will assist the Lab Manager in the administrative and technical activities of the laboratory to ensure efficient and effective operations and quality of patient services. Those activities include; the organization of work, process improvement, problem solving, regulatory compliance and functions as a staff technician when necessary. The Laboratory Supervisor will assist with the supervision of employees, including direct observation of competency of technicians and phlebotomists, orientation of new staff members and serving as a mentor/role model. The Laboratory Supervisor will assume responsibility and provide guidance to employees in the Lab Managers absence.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

-Ability to perform and have knowledge of all relevant lab competencies. Takes initiative to ensure staff receive and complete required competencies and educations.

-Accurately and efficiently performs patient testing with little to no errors. Follows all required reporting protocol if errors should occur.

-Accurately performs QC/corrective action/failures/documentation with little errors.

-Works with Lab Manager to prepare schedules, assign duties, evaluate personnel, resolve personnel problems and make recommendations regarding personnel matters.

-In conjunction with Manager, reviews Quality Control results, maintenance logs and reagent logs monthly.

-In conjunction with Manger, conducts, directs, and assists with special projects.

-Ability to apply knowledge of State and Federal regulations and Joint Commission requirements applicable to laboratory.

-Works with the Lab Manager in order to maintain efficient cost control programs and inventory management.

-Promotes effective interdepartmental relationships.

-Completes personnel competency and training.

-Ensures organizational adherence to applicable policies and procedures by all staff.

-Works with Lab Manager

-Assist in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.

-Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department and services performed.

-Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.

-Participates in continuing education programs as per job classification requirements. Completes all required Life Talent educations as assigned.

-Attends departmental meetings when Manager is not present.

-Adheres to Corporate Compliance Guidelines and requirements of Federal, State, and Local regulatory and accrediting agencies with no deviation from standards.

-Supports the Lab Manager in maintaining facility Joint Commission Lab Accreditation.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

-MT Certification

-Bachelor or Associate degree with appropriate training

-Current ASCP and NCA Certification

Minimum Work Experience

3-5 years' experience as a Medical Technologist required

1-2 years' experience in a Supervisory/Leadership role
