DuPont Water & Protection is recruiting for an Activity Coordinator/Gatekeeper, Nomex Paper Area based at our Spruance site in Richmond, VA! The Spruance Plant is home to 5 businesses: Kevlar, Mylar, Nomex, Tyvek& and Zytel and is currently DuPont's largest manufacturing site. Water & Protection is a leading provider of engineered products and integrated systems for the construction, worker safety, energy, oil & gas, transportation, water purification and medical markets.



The Activity Coordinator / Gatekeeper is the "air traffic controller" of the produce product process. S/he coordinates, prioritizes, assigns, and schedules plant activities within their unit and ensures that value-added and complete work orders are generated. S/he understands the plant / department strategy, budget, business objectives, value added criteria and day to day operations.



As an Activity Coordinator/Gatekeeper, you will:




* Work with all roles impacting operations (i.e. Run Plant Engineer, Production Coordinator Technical Advisor, etc.) to determine jobs for upcoming week and works with the Maintenance Scheduler to decide which jobs are to be included in the schedule.

* Coordinate work to be performed by operations personnel. (i.e. Coordinates timing and scheduling of process equipment preparation and maintenance with the Maintenance Scheduler)

* Ensure appropriate operational resources are allocated to perform operational tasks and activities.

* Input shift planning tool (OPD Task List) and role utilization data/timing into process for determining normal staffing.

* Utilize, update & adjust the OPD Task List to schedule plant activities that impact operations.

* Ensure communication to maintenance on job readiness prior to job assignment.

* Communicate schedule to Shift Activity Coordinator for equipment preparation.

* Actively participate in the maintenance schedule update meetings, i.e. Daily Schedule Confirmation meeting, Weekly Scheduling / Work Selection meeting, etc.

* Assess and ensure work orders are value adding, have detailed scopes, applicable troubleshooting information, etc. Coaches work originators on creation of value-added work notifications.

* Determine if the requested work can be performed within the plant / department. If it can, route to operations. If it can't, route work to proper service provider for execution, i.e. maintenance, improvements, etc.

* Recognize when work notifications are not "like-for-like" and ensure the originator or appropriate person for those items has initiated the Management of Change (MOC) process.

* Inform work originator if the work notification is rejected with reasons for rejection.

* Prioritize the work notifications using knowledge of plant's / departments physical condition, the Preventative Maintenance program and budgetary constraints.

* Manage the incoming backlog and works with Maintenance Scheduling to manage the active backlog.

* Review work status with service providers and originators and adjust schedule as required.

* Work with Maintenance team to manage emergency work.

* Collect and/or review process data for improvement purposes and corrective actions. (i.e. % Emergency Work, Incomplete Work Notifications, Operational Delays, Rework, etc.)

* Ensure "rework" is identified on work requests and recorded as applicable.

* Own Bill of Materials accuracy.

* Work with plant and maintenance resources to ensure MIQA and other plant specific compliance activities are scheduled and completed to maintain compliance.

* Work with Operations Turnaround Coordinator to ensure Start Up and Shutdown tasks align with plant operations activities.

Job Qualification


* A minimum of a High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required; 2-year Technical/Trade School degree is strongly preferred

* A minimum of 7 years' experience Industrial or Chemical manufacturing and/or related experience is required

* Demonstrated computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required

* Knowledgeable/experience with CMMS application (i.e. SAP)

* Line of business (Kevlar/Tyvek/Nomex) experience is desirable

* Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience is preferred

* Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications, planning and organizing.

* Excellent organization and time management skills to include prioritization, scheduling, and optimizing work force skills and resources.

* Experience in coaching, training, networking and facilitation.

* Understanding of budgeting processes and status; applies knowledge of maintenance and operations budgets in decision making.

* Thorough knowledge of the plant process technology

* This role is located in Spruance-Richmond, VA and may require less than 5% of travel

* A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States; No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position
