JOB SUMMARY/ JOB DUTIES:
The Packer Coordinator, under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor, is responsible for basic packaging room work flow coordination
* Reads the production schedule and plans accordingly. Communicates production run information to following shift lead person; prepares and verifies packaging labels for use on cases or full product skids (includes item, code, total cases on skid).
* Monitors supply levels; notifies packaging material handler when supplies are needed.
* Assigns job duties to all packers in conjunction with department supervisor; coordinates rotation and relief of packers; may relieve packers.
* Monitors work flow of the packaging room throughout the shift. Assigns and reassigns job duties according to production schedule and work flow; maintains proper communication with packaging room department supervisor.
* Assists in areas where needed. Monitors bags of product for appropriate codes and code dates.
* Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection; assists in keeping packaging room clean, neat, and orderly. Keeps packaging room aisles and exits free from obstructions; neatly stacks and stores all materials in designated places; follows instructions for safe lifting and carrying various sizes, shapes and weights of objects; identities/reports defective equipment; reports all job-related injuries to supervision.
* May fill in for supervisor level as needed.
* May perform other duties as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and/or 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
