Job Description

THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION- SIGNIFIGANT SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL AVAILABLE

1. Perform all duties of a Picker Packer 2 (Gr. 2). In addition, the PA-1 shall, as needed, serve as a lead Picker Packer providing assistance, direction and /or training to other packers and temps.
2. Be capable of assisting, or filling in for an Operator on a limited basis. Duties will include the following. Perform roll changes insuring paper/raw material are loaded into the Splicer. Maintain required levels of inks, glues, etc in glue pot's, ink bucket's, mica bottles etc to insure an uninterrupted flow while the equipment is running. Monitor a press for proper operation with limited supervision during lunch or while an operator is performing other tasks. Perform a full quality check and process job related documentation (exceptions: die evaluations, spec changes). Provide basic assistance as needed to make-ready the equipment for operation. Assist with retrieving plates, mounting plates and recycling/storing plates, print unit wash-ups, removing print cylinders and other tasks associated with make-ready of the press.

NOTE: a PA-1 is not expected to initially perform makereadies or troubleshoot press problems or delays.

3. Work to acquire knowledge, skills and experience that will enable them - over a period of time to be determined by Supervision - to take on increasing levels of responsibility for operating a press including the completion of basic makereadies and troubleshooting of basic press problems. Skills will include things such as making adjustments to web configuration, tooling pressure, ink flow, dryer temperature, anilox to print cylinder, print cylinder to paper, and print registration.

Perform other duties as requested.
