Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Corning is a leading supplier of in-building wireless systems in the US, from distributed antenna systems to enterprise small cells. We are transforming how in-building wireless networks are built by delivering massive amounts of capacity at a price that operators and enterprises love.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can help us grow our In-building wireless business and define next-generation hardware and software solutions. This position will have overall product responsibility for the Wireless business at Corning. The candidate should have significant leadership ability and a demonstrated track record of defining market needs, negotiating with customers and suppliers and driving rapid sales growth of new products. He/she should be proficient in RAN & DAS solutions for enterprise and carriers. The role requires an ability to converse with product development team at the appropriate level to interpret customer needs, make feature/software priority calls and weigh in on solution architectures.
Responsibilities
* Articulate multi-year strategy and product roadmap to customers and internal stakeholders.
* Understand market dynamics and incorporate knowledge into product line strategy to outpace market and competitor growth.
* Demonstrate extreme ownership for financial performance.
* Able to understand and unpack requirements of wireless operators and enterprises.
* Lead a team of product Line managers.
* Develop clear plan and growth priorities for the organization.
* Generate organizational buy-in and drive cross-functional alignment of plan.
* Develop internal business cases to justify new product development projects.
* Analyze competitive environment, and develop strategy on how we compete.
* Closely work with development teams on execution, making hard choices where necessary.
* Define product vison and multi-year roadmap.
* Lead cross-functional teams to manage revenue growth and product line profitability.
* Define and monitor pricing strategy.
* Lead cross-functional team of business leaders to ensure organizational alignment and the effective execution of strategy.
* Develop the PLM team to ensure high performance, growth of leadership capabilities and viable succession plans.
Required Qualifications
* Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. MBA desirable.
* Solid understanding of wireless radio access network (RAN) and RF technologies and specifications in the indoor wireless space.
* Solid understanding of what is required to deploy products at carriers or large enterprises.
* 7+ years of experience in the development, deployment or operation of indoor wireless solutions, either at network equipment supplier or at a wireless operator.
* 2+ years of experience in a product management, systems engineering, or network planning role.
* Track record of taking one or more products from inception to launch.
* Track record of successfully supporting sales teams.
* Must demonstrate clear understanding of product development process.
* Excellent oral and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate effectively at all levels. Must be able to independently represent Corning externally to industry leaders, the press and senior executives at our largest customers.
