Responsibilities
Quail Run Behavioral Health is currently seeking a full time Intake Counselor/Clinician to join our Admissions department. This position is eligible for our full benefits package and generous PTO in addition to a $5000 sign on bonus.
The Intake Counselor provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.
The Intake Clinician also assists the Physician by providing face to face clinical assessments, including the history of presenting illness, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information Answers telephone within 3 rings using the appropriate greeting and attempts to obtain all pertinent clinical, demographic and insurance information from the caller to determine caller's needs.
Keeps aware of calls waiting in the queue which require immediate attention. Performs telephonic risk assessment to determine level of suicidality with the caller in crisis.
Utilizes the 911 emergency systems whenever a caller is at serious risk to harm self or others. Provides specific telephonic referral to an appropriate resource whenever a caller is not appropriate for Horsham services.
Accurately and thoroughly completes Inquiry Call Sheet (ICS) to include obtained information and outcome of telephonic assessment.
Demonstrates knowledge of inpatient, partial hospitalization and IOP admission criteria and is able to apply such to individual patients. Upon determination of appropriateness for potential admission, obtains insurance information and accurately and thoroughly completes Insurance and Patient Admission Form (IPA).
Faxes IPA/ICS to Patient Accounting immediately upon receipt of referral for an admission/evaluation to verify insurance benefits. Utilizes the Medical Assistance Eligibility Verification System (EVS) to verify eligibility, or contacts the Office of Medical Assistance telephonically, for all patients referred for services. Schedules assessments, psychiatric evaluations and admissions with potential patient/referral source within 24 hours.
Explains the evaluation and admission process to the potential patient/referral source and informs patient of necessary items to bring for hospital stay.
Provides directions or arranges appropriate transportation services via Hospital van, taxicab or ambulance as needed to transport patient to hospital.
Documents each scheduled evaluation or admission on the Daily Assessment and Admission log. Assigns patient to appropriate unit based upon age and clinical presentation.
Notifies unit staff of pending admission and provides pertinent clinical, demographic and insurance information.
Notifies receptionist of pending information. Notifies Program Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor, Director of Nursing and Clinical Director of any special medical needs or accommodations patient may have which require evaluation and documents need and notification on ICS.
Accurately and thoroughly enters information documented on the ICS and IPA into the computer as a call under the Call Management menu in accordance with unit protocol.

Qualifications
Education:
Masters Degree in Counseling, Psychology or Human Services field, or Social Work.
Experience:
Prior intake, assessment, admission, and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.
Additional Requirements:
CPR and Level I fingerprint clearance card
