Summary:

Job Family Summary

Provides analytics services to the business. Develops new insights and understands the business performance based on data and statistical methods. Analyzes business results, external market dynamics and other data sources to assess trends and develop actionable insights and recommendations to management, via understanding of the business model and the information available for analysis. Typically uses data, statistical and quantitative analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, and fact-based management to drive decision making.

* Manages professional employees and/or supervisors
* Has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own area of specialty
* Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
* Decisions and problem solving are guided by policies, procedures and department plan; receives guidance from manager
* Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
* Use this management level if primary responsibility is for complex financial and advanced statistical modeling; manages Business Analytics I-V

Primary Accountabilities

* Oversees the development of dashboards, financial models, and advanced statistical models.
* Builds hypotheses, identifies research data attributes and determines best approach to address business issues.
* Works with business partners to identify and scope new opportunities for reporting, financial and statistical analysis applications to evaluate business performance and to support business decisions.
* Oversees the development of predictive models and the testing and validation of statistical models.
* Keeps abreast of significant developments within the industry and develops strategies that allow the company to take advantage of those opportunities.
* Incorporates findings and provides industry and competitor insights as part of model development and enhancement.
* Partners with research and analytics staff and other areas of the business on model application and implementation.
* Responsible for communication and delivery of financial, statistical and predictive model results to business partners, supporting socialization and adoption of analysis results into business activities and decisions.
* Works closely with business stakeholders to identify and answer critical questions.

Travel Requirements

* This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements

* Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.
* Demonstrated management or leadership experience.
* Demonstrated experience communicating business implications of complex data relationships and results of statistical models to multiple business partners.
* Demonstrated experience in public speaking and use of appropriate presentation skills.
* Demonstrated experience communicating business implications of complex data relationships and results of statistical models to multiple business partners.
* Demonstrated experience in managing and leading large complex projects related to analytics.
* Demonstrated strong experience with statistical and modeling software tools.

Position Details:

* Leads a team who designs, develops, implements, and maintains reoccurring financial models and predictive models related to the Profit and Growth (P&G) Plan for Personal Lines at the AmFam OpCo
* Leader demonstrates ability to understand and communicate both the details and complexity of the teams work as well as clearly summarize the work for executive level presentations (verbal and written).
* Strives to understand all aspects of top line models in order to effectively communicate with our business partners on key assumptions, initiatives, and key drivers of the current trends.
* Proactively engage business partners to gain feedback on P&G Planning process, timeline, and modeling efforts. Collaborates with Finance, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Customer, and Loss Reserving to analyze and determine the impact of changes which impact the Profit and Loss statements.
* Leads process improvement, commits to meet tightly defined deadlines, and works with a sense of urgency.
* Leads development of scenarios and ad hoc forecasts that help guide strategic decisions.
* Effectively communicates findings to various stakeholders and management with recommendations for actions to address business issues.
* Maintains awareness of business efforts that may influence forecast trends.
* Collaborates and communicates to ensure business quantification of initiatives and building blocks are in alignment with modeling efforts and timelines.
* Challenging the status quo by asking strategic or detail oriented questions.
