The role of the Filler/Extruding Operator is to set up and run the Filling or the Extruder/Winder machine, produce the approved customer product according to specifications and package for shipment. The Filler/Extruder Operator is responsible for achieving company goals related to Safety, Quality, Housekeeping and Production.

Major tasks include:
1. Advocate and practice the principles of the Safety program.
2. Responsible for the proper setup and operation of the Filler and Extruder machines and support equipment. This includes setup for proper fill levels, perform batch and size changes within specified time frame and perform inspections for quality product.
3. Responsible for complete and accurate reporting on production logs and paperwork.
4. Responsible for planning ahead for raw material changes and monitoring equipment and control panels for safe and efficient operation of equipment.
5. Perform Safety functions. This includes daily inspection of equipment for safety issues and to ensure machine safety guards/interlocks are in place and working properly. Responsible for wearing proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), working safely and maintaining safe working conditions. Must be trained on Lockout/Tagout procedure and plant safety policies.
6. Perform Housekeeping functions. This includes proper teardown of equipment for cleaning and changeovers and daily housekeeping of the line.
7. Perform Quality functions. This involves inspection of finished product according to Quality guidelines, attainment of proper fill levels and compliance with Perfect Package Appearance standards.
8. Responsible for achieving productivity requirements or consistent achievement of standards and efficiencies.
9. Perform Preventive Maintenance functions. This involves daily maintenance, scheduled PMs on equipment to ensure it is properly maintained for maximum performance and checking tanks and other equipment for proper water and oil levels, temperature and filter maintenance.
10. Production reporting functions. Provide accurate reporting of production and downtime for each production run.
11. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor. This includes cross training on other equipment and performing other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
Must have the legal right to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship now or in the future for employment work visa status
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must have access to reliable transportation
Must be able to work overtime with or without reasonable accommodation
The successful candidate must also pass a pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience working with machinery in a manufacturing environment
Experience operating packaging equipment such as robotics, filling machines, case packers, labelers, etc.
Experience monitoring the quality of raw materials or finished goods
Experience with material-handling equipment
