Activity Therapist

Medical City McKinney

PRN (As Needed)

Position Summary:

Responsible for planning and implementing educational, recreational, and therapeutic activities and programs for Behavioral Health patients which enhance the psychosocial support to patients and families.

Job Duties:

* Completes initial activity therapy assessment of patients upon admission

* Plans and implements age appropriate therapeutic activities on a group and individual basis that assist patients in achieving specific goals and objectives daily while on an inpatient unit

* Documents therapy interventions, observations, assessments and clinical data regarding patients in accordance with documentation protocol therapeutic activities

* Evaluates and documents patients progress and attendance in the patients medical record and department records

* Attends and interacts with interdisciplinary treatment team in developing, updating and re-evaluating patients therapeutic treatment plan

* Collaborates with other treatment team members in patient discharge planning

* Manages safety and orderliness of adjunct therapy work/group areas and maintains appropriate variety of activity therapy supplies

* Performs other duties as requested or required

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

* Graduate of an approved school of recreation therapy required

* Must attend 5.0 CEU every 5 years

License/Certification:

* Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through NCTRC required

* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
