Gas Construction Spoils Operations Intern

Organization Overview

Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers and is responsible for all aspects of PG&E's gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.

A critical part of Gas Operations is the Gas Construction Central Operations Team. The team is responsible for all Gas T&D construction operations which include Traffic Control, Cross-Bore Legacy Program and Spoils Operations.

Position Summary

The Central Operations Intern is responsible for preparing documents for construction and improvement projects in the gas transmission and distribution systems. The Operations intern will assist in reporting, gather data from enterprise project system tools, data entry, coordinates with contractors, construction managers, and observe construction and spoils. Gas Construction Central Operations is looking for talented summer intern to help support compliance with our procedures and processes.

Gas Construction Central Operations will be driving numerous records initiatives including but not limited to:

* Spoils Operations Field Assessment Reviews
* Third-party Giveaway Program
* Developing and implementing program effectiveness plan
* Developing data governance process for electronic storage of data

The successful intern will have the opportunity to support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Superintendents and Managers. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Gas Operations organization through the work they will be performing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

* Earning a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field (students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship)
* Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

Desired:

* EIT or FE certification
* 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
* Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
* Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
