Requisition Summary
Electrical Vehicle Powertrain Engineering Intern will be a part of Kenworth Engineering team. The successful candidate will support a team of high performing professionals who pride themselves in developing innovative processes, setting industry standards for quality, and providing cost-effective designs. Engineering intern will have an opportunity to gain hands on experience and make a valuable contribution to overall achievement of the company mission.
As a part of Electrical Vehicle Powertrain Team, Engineering Intern have an opportunity to collaborate with other teams at PACCAR (PACCAR Technical Center, Peterbilt, DAF, and PACCAR purchasing) and be a part of a cross-functional team working on developing other related vehicle systems and represent North American vehicle requirements in our global organization. Our ideal candidates will be motivated to contribute to a new generation of vehicles at Kenworth and PACCAR globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Requirements definition, investigation, development, coordination, and implementation activities and selection of powertrain systems appropriate for Battery Electric Vehicles.
* Define integration requirements and lead the implementation into heavy duty trucks.
* Participate in benchmarking activities, technology evaluation, and the development of validation standards for responsible systems.
* Drive chosen supplier partners to meet program schedules and milestones.
* Support efforts with lead teams at other PACCAR divisions to ensure successful global launches of PACCAR vehicles.
* Communicate results and progress to team and stakeholders on a regular basis and facilitate technology transfer between PACCAR divisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
* The candidate must be currently working towards a BS, MS, or relevant program in Engineering and have completed their sophomore year.
* Passion and interest in working on commercial vehicle powertrains, including next generation electrified drivetrains and vehicles.
* Solid understanding of engineering design, development, and validation processes.
* CAD / 3D Modeling experience; Creo preferred.
* Must be able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects from start to finish.
* Must have independent judgment and effective decision-making skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely and work effectively with a wide variety of people and functions.
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
* Automotive background
* Experience with coolant systems / fluid dynamics
* Experience in electrified components
