Position: Senior Database Administrator

Role Value Proposition:

Duties: Partner with the engineering and architecture teams to ensure that the database systems are maintained at the highest level of support in production and non-production environments. Architect and provide disaster recovery (DR) and high availability (HA) solutions. Provide expert opinion and technical details for business applications by performing capacity planning, workload modeling and prediction. Maintain currency with operating system and support software to ensure that the database management environments are updated with current stable versions of software products. Plan and implement major software upgrades so the change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed. Participate in establishing processes, best practices, strategies and database management solutions, including development standards, backup/recovery, quality control, DR/failover, monitoring, maintenance, metric reporting, optimization, improvement and automation for SQL Server.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Applications or Information Technology (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eight (8) years of experience developing database and database internals using SQL Server in physical and virtual environments. Specific skills/other requirements - Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section): architecting and providing High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for MSSQL Server; planning and implementing SQL Server software upgrades in a 24/7/365 environment; performing backups and restores using different recovery models, including full, simple and bulk-logged recovery models; performing database optimization, query tuning and review of execution plans; troubleshooting SQL Server production issues during business and non-business hours; performing storage, capacity planning and configuration of SQL Server databases; and performing scripts documentation and maintenance for data processing.
