Position Summary
Bring Corporate Affairs strategic plan to life in new markets to enhance and protect Kroger's reputation and elevate Kroger's unique story. Leverage the eCommerce fulfillment center to realize an ambitious Corporate Affairs strategy to expand Kroger's license to operate and be recognized among the most reputable and influential companies in America. Oversee external stakeholder engagement activities. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.
Essential Job Functions
* Act as a communications consultant for the fulfillment center leadership
* Provide advice/strategies to fulfillment center leadership regarding emerging community/consumer issues that may affect the company's business/reputation
* Identify, manage and lead the execution of Kroger sponsored (local) events
* Identify and engage with local PR firm(s) to assist with highest priority relationships, messaging and events
* Collaborate with media and external relations leaders to align/execute corporate priorities/initiatives and manage potential crises/reputational issues
* Serve as a strategic communications leader, spokesperson and crisis communications coordinator for the fulfillment center
* Serve as key member of the fulfillment center's marketing/customer communications team with a focus on increasing awareness of company's brand and support for local causes
* Develop/execute earned media strategies/tactics to support brand image, sales and community marketing
* Develop and manage relationships with state/local trade associations, chambers of commerce and elected officials to influence policies that support key business objectives
* Participate in annual solicitation for company's Political Action Committee; provide contribution recommendations to Corporate Affairs
* Support corporate federal government relations strategies by building relationships with members of Congress
* Lead a comprehensive process to accelerate our associate communications/engagement strategy to improve reach/effectiveness and measure progress
* Improve effectiveness of our channels (e.g., web, video, email, social, print) to better reach all customers
* Support corporate sustainability initiatives by building local partnerships and communicating company progress in local markets
* Develop/execute community marketing/engagement programs that enhance the company's reputation as a generous/caring retailer and that support the company's key community priorities
* Manage/guide community funds budget comprised of foundation, corporate, associate and customer contributions
* Promote company's annual Associate Insights Survey among fulfillment center associates
* Travel up to 25% to support business needs

Minimum Position Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, PR, marketing or political science
* 5+ years of experience in Corporate Affairs or similar role
* Excellent oral/written communication skills
* Ability to analyze/solve problems
* Strong planning/organizational skills
Desired Previous Experience/Education
* Any experience as Corporate Affairs leader in retail or corporate environment
* Any previous work within or managing PR agencies
* Any previous work with elected officials, government or campaigns
