Responsibilities

The Strategic Initiatives Manager, Standards and Sustainability will play a critical role in the launch and commercialization of our circular technologies. This candidate must be self-driven and motivated with the ability to generate systemic advocacy strategies and then execute on those strategies. This candidate will need substantial experience with standards development via multi-stakeholder channels like ISO, ASTM, CEN. While this role will not have direct people management responsibilities, the ability to coordinate and lead a global team without direct authority will be critical. Primary responsibility for this role will include:

Standards Strategy Lead (40%):
Develop robust strategies to engage and influence standards with a clear understanding of the broader eco-system and how the different standard setting groups are interconnected
Align internal resources on the strategic plans and document progress towards those goals
Work collaboratively with other key internal partners on advocacy related issues
Effectively communicate the strategy and progress to internal stakeholders at a variety of levels including C-level.
Lead global team supporting standards, ensuring that all members are aligned on messaging and have the necessary knowledge and skills to execute on the strategy
Identify new opportunities and potential risks to the existing strategy as they develop, adjusting the strategy when necessary

Standards Development (60%)
Participate in multiple multi-stakeholder standard processes representing Eastman (various ISO Technical Committees, ASTM)
Establish and cultivate relationships with critical influences in the various multi-stakeholder groups, during events and in between
Develop and execute on specific strategies to help influence opinions and perspectives based on data and science
Participate in accordance with the standard setting bodys guidelines and frameworks
Serve in leadership roles for advisory groups or committees when it warrants

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or higher in physical science or engineering required, with preference for degrees in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering
Substantial experience with ISO and others multi-stakeholder standard development processes
Must be able to manage their time independently, work proactively with peers and management, and have the ability to influence people at all levels without having direct authority, internally and externally
