Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Integrated Material Management Lead. This position can be located in Houston, TX, Freeport, TX or Plaquemine, LA.

The Material Management work process is an integral part of Dow's Build and Modify work process with overlaps in Dow Global Source to Pay StP process. The accountability and primary responsibility of the material management work process, metric definition, improvements, and high level role description belongs to Technical Expertise & Support (TES) Integrated Materials Management Discipline.

The Material Management Lead role is executed by the Integrated Materials Management (IMM) functional group within TES - supporting capital, turnaround & expense projects. The IMM Discipline is responsible for the execution of the GPM and related and AWP work processes. The IMM Discipline is also responsible for developing functional or project aligned work processes or job aids as needed that align to the GPM and AWP work processes and business rules.

Primary Interactions:

* Interacts with integrated capital and/or expense project team members and site personnel as applicable (Regional and Global) for assigned projects

* Responsible and accountable for the end to end material data flow touchpoints and gaps by interacting with Project Managers, Project Engineers, Designers, Construction Managers, Project Schedulers, Requisitioners, all purchasing roles, expeditors, receivers, marshallers, inspectors, supplier document coordinators and suppliers as appropriate (Global)

* Accountable to interact with Technical Expertise and Support Information Technology (TES IT) and Diamond Systems Solutions (DSS) teams to facilitate effective data exchange regarding work process/tools

* Responsible for identifying improvement opportunities within the material management work process and leads the development and implementation of solutions to address opportunities

* Demonstrates a passion for driving outstanding Environment, Health & Safety/Sustainability (EH&S) performance and developing a zero-incident culture

* Responsible and accountable to complete safety initiatives of the department and sites (as applicable)

Primary Responsibilities:

* The Materials Management Lead (MML) is responsible and accountable for the end to end management of material needs for directly assigned project(s) ranging from $100 MM - $200 MM Total Installed Costs (TIC). Activities include material date planning, materials coordination, materials feasibility reporting and materials status visibility via Global Project Methodology and Advanced Work Packaging Best Practices. (Dow Internal and external with the Contractor Workface Planner).

* It is expected that in addition to the direct assigned projects or a group of projects that have Total Installed Costs (TIC) ranging from $100 MM - $200 MM, each MML would also direct the actions of contingent staff personnel working on projects totaling $500 MM $800 MM.

* Responsible for providing detailed functional material management planning, execution, trouble shooting, coordination and communications for assigned project(s) (Regional and/or Global)

* Accountable for the continuity and consistency of data related to the integrated materials management planning and coordination life cycle by ensuring the integrity of data from the Project Supply Plan to the field receipt of material at construction jobsite location.

* Responsible and accountable for maintaining manual or computerized records; run, analyze and validate applicable project reports associated with all material status based on project timeline needs (daily, weekly, monthly and/or applicable frequency required)

* Responsible and accountable to lead quality data stewardship activities and intervene/escalate as required to maintain project schedules. Accountable to assess quality of data (internal & external) and related feedback coming into the material data life cycle from the many sources to drive an accountability type of culture to meet project materials commitments. Uses information from multiple sources (direct, indirect, cross functional teams, external supplier needs/impacts) to assess materials status and impact on construction schedule.

* Accountable to facilitate the transfer of Bill of Material/Material Take-off data from engineering tools for MST Requisition Cover sheets / MST associated packages to Requisitioners, including actual data population in Smart Materials, if necessary.

* Accountable to complete the handoffs necessary to ensure that material specification transmittal (MST) packages are accurate, including material quantities, tag details, date adherence, and revision/change management of scope/dates from Bill of Material/Material Take offs stage all the way thru construction installation readiness of materials.

* Responsible to ensure Dow is securing material deliveries to the field sites at the right time. Must closely work with Construction Manager, Project Engineer, Engineering Discipline Leads, Project Procurement Manager and AWP Work Face Planner to provide materials readiness data knowledge during reviews and exchange of data to/from ConstructSim and participates in Project Gate Reviews as applicable.

* Accountable to inform necessary parties of deadlines as required. If delivery information is not acceptable, the MML must immediately initiate investigation and resolution with the project team (including purchasing personnel supporting the project).

* When applicable - notifies Project Procurement Manager and Expeditor (for further communication to supplier) to seek supplier data/resolution

* Accountable to address issues / conflicts with MST dates, MST Tracker Dates and Master Project Schedule Dates

* Responsible to schedule and facilitate meetings with the project team to address deviations from the planned materials schedule for assigned projects

* Responsible and accountable to lead the planning and implementation of Auto-ID Technology for assigned projects, including collaborating with Material Marshaller, Site Receiving and Construction Workface Planner roles

* Responsible to direct the actions of 5-10 contingent staff personnel (located globally) to execute the Integrated Materials Management work processes based on actual assigned project load.

* Responsible to reduce construction delays/inefficiencies, help maintain overall project schedule, reduce the need to re-order lost materials and help enable the full execution of the AWP construction planning process on assigned projects. Execution of these goals is expected to provide a 10% reduction in TIC for projects vs Dows baseline project execution performance.

* Responsible to document successes and areas of opportunities for assigned projects and analyze project performance for improvement opportunities. Leads the development and implementation of solutions generated to address improvement opportunities.

* SAP system navigational skills (including Diamond Systems Reporting)

* MST Tracker System navigational skills

* Knowledgeable in Vendor/Supplier engineering and fabrication process. Comfortable with working/auditing suppliers shops and how to recognize vulnerabilities that could lead to detrimental schedule impacts for on-time materials delivery.

* Able to Influence across multiple functional groups to implement actions to address recognized issues with on-time materials delivery to project sites

Desired Knowledge:

* Integrated Material life cycle work flow - proper planning, coordination, monitoring, and balancing of goods/materials for a project with construction driven mindset

* Integrated Materials Management work processes

* Selected candidate will need to understand tool integration and is expected to be a super user in Smart Materials.
