Zions Bancorporation is currently looking for a Lead Data Engineer to help transform our data management and analytics environment. The Enterprise Information Management team is currently managing a highly successful and consolidated enterprise data warehouse, data lake, and operational data environments that process terabytes of data a day to make quick and accurate business decisions in various domains including risk, cybersecurity, and marketing. Our team is lean and agile.  Ideally this position will be located in Salt Lake City, UT, however, we are open to remote work.

What will your day look like? You will:

Perform proof-of-concepts on data analytics tools and technologies in the cloud environment
Design & develop automated and distributed frameworks to ingest and transform data from disparate sources across the organization
Design modern cloud native data analytics environment
Establish a migration strategy from on-prem data systems to the cloud environment
Build real-time analytics integrations with state-of-the-art digital banking systems
Work with business domain SMEs to better understand business challenges
Provide clear documentation on design decision and workflows
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent. 
8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer or related field in building real-time data pipelines for very large datasets required.  A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications
Strong knowledge of various programming languages like Python, Java, Ruby or R
Experience with UNIX/Linux
Experience developing stream-based data pipelines like Kafka, Spark
Experience designing and architecting Big Data systems using Hadoop, NoSQL
Experience with cloud native data technologies (Azure, AWS)
Knowledge of search technology (e.g. Solr, Lucene, Elastic Search)
Experience with the ETL (DataStage, Talend, Streamsets) toolsets 
Advanced analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
Passionate about data analysis and problem solving
Ability and desire to learn new technologies quickly 
Ability to elicit, gather and analyze user requirements
Ability to work independently and collaborate with others at all levels of technical understanding
Able to meet deadlines
