Join Chevron as an data engineer with an understanding of commercial applications and regional process to be able to effectively represent business requirements to IT personnel with a primary focus on maintaining vendor software and optimizing evergreen support through configuration, automation, and integration.

Job Expectations

We are hiring a Data engineering Sub Chapter Head responsible for leading a team of people assigned across multiple platforms and product lines who has experience in modern technologies centered around Azure services (Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, etc.). In addition, who also understands exploration - specifically experience working with Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) or related data product initiatives. We are seeking mid-senior experience level professionals or higher.

Responsibilities Include - but not limited to:

Leadership

- Primary responsibility is to the people on your team - ensuring that the members are growing engineering and architecture skills, working to enable team members to deliver cost effective, scalable design, and driving business value while adhering to recognized software engineering practices

- Maintain relationships in and across industries

- Act as primary point of contact for the Data Engineering Chapter across all our strategic suppliers

- Ensure technical competency of team members is increasing through assignment, training, coaching and other programs

- Partner with talent management to onboard and keep diverse top talent

- Collaborate with platform teams and fellow chapters heads to decide the right team member placement.

- Support a culture of transparency and agile ways of working within and across teams

Technical

- Promote the design of data products and data pipelines that are resilient to change, modular, flexible, scalable, reusable and cost effective.

- Understand business use of data and stakeholder requirements to support work processes and strategic business objectives

- Leverage data, software engineering, and data science techniques to create business value through data accessibility enabling data scientists to build and scale advanced analytical models.

- Collaborate with machine learning engineers to scale and deploy solutions including models, documentation, training, and integration

- Contribute to improve standard architecture and practices for Chevron digital platforms

Selection Criteria:

- Proven analytical skills and experience making decisions based on hard and soft data

- Experience with resource planning and allocation within and across large organizations

- Strong communication across organizational levels

- Multiple years of proven people leadership experience

- Experience in Computer Science

- Software Engineering fundamentals and tools (GIT, Azure DevOps)

- Data management for analytics including data architecture tools and technologies

- Hands-on Data Engineering, Analysis, and Architecture experience

- Hands-on Agile software delivery experience

- Delivery experience under a product management model

- Strong knowledge of modern Data Engineering frameworks

- Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines

- Big data computing experience
