The LMS Administrator is responsible for leading and driving the administration, management, continuous improvement of the operations, integrations and optimization of the learning platform and related learning tools and technologies. The position resolves highly complex user and support issues escalated via the LMS Tiered Support Model and is the primary liaison between administrators, key stakeholders, and vendors. As an active partner on the Talent Management team, this role executes project plans and implements learning technology systems and processes to support development and grow talent. This is a key role to enable Thrivent to effectively integrate the workforce, grow capabilities, and engage and retain our number one asset: Our people.
Job Description
Job Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage and execute LMS administration and third-party services with expert knowledge of the learning platform, including related learning tools and technologies
* Evaluates business requirements related to the LMS, including organization application integrations, LMS operations, managing the system roadmap; demonstrates strong data analysis proficiency
* Resolves highly complex issues escalated by the business using simple, non-technical language. Consults with IT Personnel and other business areas (i.e. Legal and Compliance) in a more technical manner to help with resolution.
* Lead and deliver moderately complex Talent Development projects, defining or assisting with the analysis, scope, objectives and requirements to help drive learning strategy and support decision-making. Will need to provide and lead the direction of others.
* Drive Enterprise Learning/Training implementation assignments, completion tracking and ensures LMS governance model is being followed.; manage vendor software patches, releases, enhancements (including adhering to brand standards)
* Establish SOPs that enable functional ownership of Learning initiatives, and serve as the primary point of contact for all functional Learning Administrators
* Initiate and influence to ensure the LMS, other learning tools and technologies provide an intuitive, engaging, and career-centric experience while exploring, analyzing and negotiating for new learning integrations and technologies. Make recommendations to the L&D Director.
Required Job Qualifications
* Bachelors degree or equivalent; Coursework and/or certifications relating to learning management system administration preferred
* Minimum of 2-4+ years experience with LMS management/administration or other system administration; Cornerstone Learning Management System experience, a plus
* Knowledge of SCORM, AICC and/or xAPI eLearning standards preferred
* High levels of analysis and independence
* Develop and maintain knowledge of industry best practices; help drive organizational adoption of existing and emerging learning tools and technologies.
* Lead testing cycles for project work, and for the research and implementation of new features and best practices.
* Maintain a viable taxonomy (and overall organization) to provide a highly curated experience from the LMS; includes developing metadata schemas tied to best-in-class reporting practices, system configuration, role management, internal and third-party system integrations, troubleshooting, and testing
* Strong understanding of Adult Learning Theory, instructional technology/design and machine learning
* Must be able to establish collaborative working relationships across the organization
Other Critical Factors
* Perform business analysis tasks to determine business needs, and in partnership with the HRIS team translate them to conceptual and technical system requirements.
* Act as subject matter expert in various system processes and workflows.
* Any other functions/duties as assigned by management such as supporting Learning or IT initiatives
