Qualifications
This is a full-time 1st shift position.
The Admissions Coordinator supports the entire admission process, initiates and completes the referral and intake process, coordinates with clinical team on the appropriate level of care and maintains follow-up communication with referral sources, families, patients and program staff to maintain a quality admission and intake.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Assess prospective patients for treatment, identifying psychosocial, mental health, and medical issues to determine if a patient meets medical necessity criteria.
* Provides weekend UM support for Prior Authorizations as needed.
* Demonstrates knowledge of state licensing regulations, contractual requirements, JACHO standards, HIPAA policy, ordinances, laws and other regulations required of his/her position and acts consistently and in obedience to same.
* Obtain and disseminate admission clinical assessment and all other pertinent information related to medical necessity criteria, to be able to effectively manage the approval process with the clinical team.
* Assist with the coordination of patient travel to treatment.
* Document all intake information into medical record, including demographics and all appropriate assessments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Fluent in insurance language and processes, including interpretation of patient insurance policies related to out-of-pocket costs.
* Must have high level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
* Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Proficiency in MS Access (or other database program) is preferred.
* Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
* Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.
* Knowledge of addiction, addictive process and recovery.
* Knowledge of group process, group facilitation, and conflict resolution.
Education and Experience
REQUIRED
* High School Diploma or equivalent, including appropriate on-the-job training and experience to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position.
* 1 year of experience working in a psychiatric/substance abuse facility.
* 1 year of experience working in a clinical setting providing direct patient care and /or previous admission experience
* 1 year sales & call center experience.
PREFERRED
* Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred; including appropriate on-the-job training and experience to meet the duties and responsibilities of this position.
* 2-3 years of experience working in a psychiatric/substance abuse facility.
* Marketing and sales experience, as well as the ability to complete clinical assessments.
* 3 years' experience working in a clinical setting providing direct patient care and /or previous admission experience.
