Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: The LPN/LVN (IV CERT) functions under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The LPN/LVN (IV CERT) assures provision of care to an assigned patient population, utilizing the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members. Supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups.

KEY PERFORMANCE FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates three service excellence competencies.

Meets the organization's expectations regarding house-wide requirements.

III. PROVISION OF SERVICES

Develops, implements, and evaluates an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. Maintains professional behavior when dealing with issues or conflicts, utilizing appropriate resources, as needed. Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees. The LPN/LVN (IV CERT) will assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions. The LPN/LVN (IV CERT) will comply with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies. The LPN/LVN (IV CERT) will comply with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co-workers, patients, and visitors. The concepts of the patient centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

1. An LVN currently licensed by the State of Texas
2. Completion of an IV Therapy Course
3. Possess current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment
4. De-escalation class within 90 days of hire.
