MF2600: Machinist
ABOUT THE JOB:
* As a Machinist, the primary function is to perform skilled level work in the fabrication, assembly, maintenance and repair of a variety of machine parts. Machinists must employ a high degree of accuracy and precision in performing work according to instructions and specifications. Assignments are received in the form of oral instruction, sketches, blueprints and/or worn or broken parts. Work methods and procedures are determined by the employee or, as required, with help from engineering or supervision. All work is subject to inspection upon completion for quality and conformity with applicable requirements. The individual must also have the ability to perform minor and miscellaneous work outside the realms of the machinist trade. The individual will be expected to have basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing and tool & die trades.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Fabricates, maintains and repairs parts through the operation of lathes, vertical milling machines, drill presses, hydraulic presses and similar toolroom equipment
* Measures work precisely through the use of typical measuring devices
* Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality service
* Able to perform miscellaneous work and tasks of other skilled trades (i.e. electrical, plumbing, tool & die)
* Troubleshooting abilities
* Compliance to all Plant Environmental, Health and Safety policies and Environmental and OSHA regulatory requirements
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Basic mechanical ability, machine set-up/operation experience preferred
* Ability to perform basic math add, subtract, multiply whole numbers, fractions and decimals
* Basic ability to read, write and communicate in English
* Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge
* Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history:
* Of safe performance,
* Of accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, and
* Of constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement
* Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change
* Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking
* Must be able to handle continuous standing 8-10 hours daily
* Must be able to perform frequent lifting up to 32 lbs independently and up to 70 lbs with assistance.
* Must be able to work in an environment with various changing temperatures for portions of the year.
* Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime as required.
