The Sanmina facility in Austin, Texas provides precision machining and mechanical assembly services to customers. Precision machining capabilities include vertical milling, horizontal milling, and turning on a wide range of materials including aluminum, copper, composites, stainless titanium, and high alloy steel with a milling envelope of up to 60 x 50 x 40. The facility specializes in high-mix, low volume production and also offers sub-assembly, integration, New Product Introduction services, and clean room assembly
The Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor provides day-today guidance and support to Equipment Maintenance Technicians and Facilities Technicians. He/she takes responsibility for the coordination of activities within the assigned area and ensures that production is uninterrupted through the effective use of people and equipment. The Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor participates in the groups work by coordinating and advising others and/or by helping out where needed to ensure the achievement of expected productivity goals.
Nature of Duties:
* Works with employees to plan, monitor, and assess the individual performance of unit members.
* Responsible for providing timely and useful feedback to staff members on their performance and development plan.
* Handles sensitive employee situations, such as performance issues, absenteeism, etc.
* Takes accountability for the behavior and performance of the assigned group and/or shift, and provides on-the-job training and mentoring to other team members.
* Ensures all safety and operating procedures are followed at all times.
* Completes regular reporting and data management updates.
* Assists in the development and implementation of new procedures.
* Takes a leadership role in facilitating technician ownership throughout the facility for various initiatives.
* Provides input into hiring decisions and performance management.
* Monitors and coordinates daily priorities with a view to maximizing resource allocation and product deliveries.
* Manages all related maintenance and repair.
* Develops and implements manufacturing or test plans.
* Supports manufacturing staff in the use of equipment.
* Works on projects which may not have established procedures. Develops and recommends new procedures for test, maintenance, repair, or installation of equipment.
* Installs and maintains new or more complex manufacturing or test equipment.
* Tests and calibrates equipment.
* Identifies and troubleshoots malfunctioning manufacturing or test equipment.
* Conducts semi-routine analyses and documentation updates, relating to materials management, manufacturing, or test processes. Draws conclusions suggests sources of failure, alternate diagnostic techniques, and/or problem fixes.
* Supports/completes special projects as required.
Education and Experience:
* Associate Degree - 2-year technical college diploma
* Generally requires 2-4 years of factory experience in a technical manufacturing environment.
* Good written and verbal communication skills in English needed to escalate issues to managers, engineering, and other departments.
* Ability to multitask.
* Experience with manufacturing equipment.
* Detailed knowledge of manufacturing and test processes.
* Ability to use various equipment and tools and troubleshoot difficulties or escalate when required.
* Solid time management and prioritization skills.
* Authority and responsibility to stop production when a quality or safety issue arises
* Must comply with all work rules, policies and procedures
* Work requires walking, talking, seeing, hearing, sitting, climbing, bending, stooping, grasping, crouching, pushing, balancing, reaching, kneeling, and standing
* Must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
* Work requires working under high and low temperatures at certain times
