Cost Estimator

Job Purpose: Responsible for the preparation and coordination of Request for Quotations (RFQ's) for materials components, subassemblies and/or services based on quote requirements received from various departments within the organization (i.e. Engineering, Program Management, and Sales). Will Analyze quotations for content in addition to preparing complete costs analysis. Defines needs, clarifies discrepancies and determines the structure of BOM. Monitor RFQ through all processes and resolve issues that come up. Complete costing information including generation of costed BOM's, identifying exceptions and assumptions, and identifying and documenting all unique costs and issues. At the highest level, may also be responsible for watching technology trends and preparing cost reduction and other recommendations based on those trends

Nature of Duties: .

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Calculating material costs
* Estimating potential outsourcing of products
* Assist in determining the labor costs associated with the product
* Monitor, verify and update material costs as time progresses to deliver the product at competitive prices.
* Assist and support other plant resources as needed
* Work with Engineering staff to insure the correct processes and raw materials meet customer print specifications.
* Periodic review of Bills of Material to insure all items are listed and priced accordingly
* Research the products and pricing needed to bid the job
* Work with Sales and Engineering to make sure there are no communication gaps with requirements needed for quotes
* View 3D models to retrieve the necessary data for compiling quotes
* Set up quote meetings to gather data from our technical team to compile quotes

Education and Experience:

* Minimum of 2 year technical degree and/or experience with plastics or estimating or equivalent
* Computer proficiency with Excel, Word, and some accounting programs
* Prior exposure to working with customers
* Prior experience in working in a manufacturing environment
* Experience with Solidworks or similar CAD Software a plus
* Experience with Plastic Injection Molding would be a plus
