Job Description

Introduction

The Manager IT Applications (Transmission Distribution Tower) is accountable for application support of application platforms, with support provided by both internal and external team members. The IT Manager will provide leadership and day to day direction of the operations technology team in the TD tower, and oversight of service provider work and deliverables. The manager, jointly with the program manager in the tower, is responsible for the successful transition of support from project teams to support teams for their functional area. Accountability for thorough and up to date systems documentation and for maintaining the document repository for the applicable systems. Provides input into the technology roadmap and takes a lead role in systems development lifecycle. Has solid knowledge of service provider Service Level Agreements and contractual terms. The TD systems applications support team provides rapid response to our end users, levels 2 and 3 break/fix support, and minor enhancements. This team may also be engaged part time on projects from time to time to complete various activities including analysis, testing, development, documentation. The primary focus of the applications operations team is application support and minor enhancements.

The Manager IT Applications work within the NiSource Service Now system. The Manager IT Applications will hold daily meetings with service providers and internal teams to review events of the prior day or shift, and will prioritize work for the day and week ahead. The manger will focus on operational metrics including ticket trending and customer satisfaction, and will drive ITIL best practices and continuous improvement throughout the work the teams deliver. This manager will be highly engaged to drive rapid resolution of Major Business Interruptions and Priority 1 and 2 tickets in their functional area, and will consult when needed on MBIs and P1 and P2s in other areas.

The Manager IT Applications will create a culture of cross functional collaboration and will develop productive relationships across the other IT towers, the other applications towers, with our business stakeholders, and with our service providers. The manager will coach and mentor the team and will help directs develop professional development plans. Focused on safety, security and compliance.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

In addition to the description above, key responsibilities and indicators of success include:

* Minor enhancement design and development that adhere to NiSource technology standards.
* Measurably efficient and effective support for software applications and toolsets.
* Active management of the software development life cycle.
* Achievement of department budget targets, particularly OM targets
* Foster innovation by staying abreast of emerging application management trends and assessing their potential operational uses/value at NiSource
* Service Provider and internal team achievement of Service Level Agreements
* High/improving customer satisfaction scores (business partners and end users)
* JD Power scores in alignment with NiSource goals
* Development of people and positive teaming
* Safety culture
* Focus on system stability, security, compliance
* Solid knowledge of service provider contractual terms
* Trusted partner of our business stakeholders
* Input into technology roadmaps
* Accountability for up to date systems documentation
* Adherence to administrative deadlines and processes
* Other activities as directed

Required Qualifications for Position

* Bachelors Degree in Information Systems Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience required.
* 5 to 7 years IT application technology management and delivery experience
* Minimum 3 years technical project management experience required
* Experience leading and developing a staff of technology professionals
* Experience in managing IT delivery through insourced and outsourced providers, with distributed teams
* Extensive technical background in the application technology domain. Familiarity with other domains (hosting, information management, networking, etc.)
* Experience with either leading development or support of one or more of the following platforms Ventyx, Maximo, WMS, OpenText, ARCOS and GreenRoad.
* Experience collaborating with Integration Centers. Understanding the technologies, Operations and workflows being leveraged by the IC.
* Experience with development or support of enterprise application integration using an industry standard tool set
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills
* Strong understanding of Cloud and Hosted application support models
* Attention to detail
* Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
* Strong interpersonal, presentation skills and ability to describe complex technology issues in simple terms.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities, relationships, schedules and deadlines
* Ability to develop and sustain solid working relationships with sponsors and stakeholders
* Experience in leading teams to deliver on business requests, while managing stakeholder expectations
* Well-developed decision-making, communication, conflict resolution and relationship building skills
* ITIL certification strongly preferred. Certification within 6 months of hire required.

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

* Regulated utility experience strongly preferred
* Technical certifications preferred.
* PMP and/or Agile certifications
