Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Software System Engineer for John Deere (ISG) located at Product Engineering Center in Waterloo, IA, you will:

* Be a technical leader for the steering and braking team regarding electrical and software function, features, and safety. This includes customer facing features like Active Command Steering.
* Collaborate with vehicle system engineers to define and develop electronic and mechanical solutions.
* Collaborate with electronic system engineers to integrate subsystem into tractor architectures.
* Develop and collaborate on requirements for the software and hardware design.
* Create/modify the logical and software architecture for the steering and braking systems.
* Lead and/or collaborate with software developers to realize the functionality of the features.
* Develop and maintain safety concepts for steering and braking systems per ISO25119.
* Provide technical support to current product.
* Maintain current product.

What Skills You Need

* Demonstrated design and/or test experience in the field of mechatronics, including a solid understanding of electrical & electronics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
* Demonstrated expert level experience solving complex electro-mechanical or electro-hydraulic problems.
* Demonstrated excellent communication skills in a team environment.
* Experience with C/C++ programming language & software development tools for embedded microcontrollers in mobile applications.

What Makes You Stand Out

* Experience in Model Based Software Design (MBSD) and/or system simulation.
* Experience and knowledge of ISO25119 or ISO26262 or development of systems to meet product safety or homologation standards.
* Experience with Vehicle/Hardware/Software in the loop product testing.
* Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering or MIT/CalTech certificate completion.
* Experience leading cross functional team(s) that delivered a feature or product to production.
* Demonstrated experience in requirements engineering (gathering, writing and reviewing).

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

* Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Computer, Agricultural or Mechanical).
