Your Role and Responsibilities
Senior Tool and Modelmaker: The IBM Central Scientific Services Mechanical Engineering Team is seeking a highly skilled machinists to work in the IBM TJ Watson Research Center Model Shop; fabricating parts and assemblies, using machine tools for various research projects. The successful candidate will interface directly with and apply his or her skills to assist researchers by providing innovative mechanical solutions and accurately machined components. Candidate should have at least five years of experience in the set-up and operation of conventional machine tools (lathes, milling machines, etc.), as well as computer controlled (CNC) machine tools. The position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time while operating machine tools; to read and interpret mechanical drawings and sketches and be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools. The candidate must be able to work individually or with a team and must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
High school / Technical diploma, Proficient in the safe set up and operation of conventional and CNC machine tools (lathes, milling machines, drill presses, saws, ginders, etc.) Proficient in the manipulation and use of hand tools, Basic knowledge of CAD/CAM systems, English language: intermediate.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Associates degree in mechanical technology / engineering, At least 5 years experience in using standard machine tools, Fluent in english.
