Job Description

Tactical Data Links Standards Program Analyst

The Challenge:

The mission of the Air Force is to Fly, Fight and Win. An essential contribution to that mission is improving our ability to provide decision-quality information to the warfighter when needed. On the modern battlefield, this cannot happen without Tactical Data Links (TDLs) and the data and information they provide. Keeping these links effective requires researching solutions and evaluating the impact of proposed changes to TDL and US Message Text Format (USMTF) Military Standards (MIL STDs).

As a TDL analyst on our team, youll support an important role providing technical standards in support of system engineering, information architecture frameworks, and joint interoperability TDL test and certification. Youll provide technical support to research new solutions in support of operator requirements for systems that use TDLs or USMTF information formats, review, evaluate, and develop comments for TDL and USMTF proposals from Joint and Allied partners, prepare for tests, and evaluate results for TDL systems and their compliance to MIL STDs. In addition, you will support acquisition fielding and operator knowledge for TDL systems through the use of the interoperable Systems Management and Requirements Transformation (iSMART) process, the ESMART software tool and other web based research toolsets. This is your chance to exercise your proven skills and background knowledge of TDLs while helping the Air Force maintain the tools that allow us to Fly, Fight and Win! This position requires travel up to 25% of the time.

Empower change with us.

You Have:

* Experience as an operator, maintainer, developer, tester or analyst of Tactical Data Link (TDL) systems
* Knowledge of applicable standards, such as MIL-STD-6016/6017/6018/6020/3011
* Ability to provide technical advice to the Government on joint interoperability policies
* Ability to help the USAF formulate positions for the Air Force Standards Interoperability Board (AFSIB)
* Ability to evaluate TDL concepts or problems and provide analytical assessments that address the impact to existing allied message standards and systems
* Ability to review joint TDL Data Link Change Proposals (DLCPs) and provide technical evaluations
* Ability to prepare and participate in the AF TDL Operator Panel (AFTOP), collecting U.S. change proposals related to CJCSI 6120.01 Joint Multi-TDL Operational Procedures (JMTOP) and resolving any applicable action items assigned to the USAF
* Ability to travel up to 25%
* Secret clearance
* BA or BS degree

Nice If You Have:

* Experience with originating and submitting interface change proposals to the Joint Multi-TDL Configuration Control Board, attendance at Air Force Standards Interoperability Board (AFSIB), or exposure to USAF Doctrine and the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Board (C3B) and its subcommittees
* Knowledge of Version 3 of the AF Concept of Link Employment (COLE)
* Knowledge of configuration management approaches, as applied to military standards
* Ability to conduct independent or team-based research and present results in the form of properly-formatted background papers, staff studies, talking papers or presentations to AF leaders
* Possession of excellent oral and written communications skills
* MA or MS degree
